 Biggest Upset of the evening?
What did you think it was? I think it was the Aviator losing picture.
(I didn't mind motorcycle diariess winning after hearing the song)

For me the one big surprise is easily Motorcycle Diaries winning Best Song.
Ray winning Best Sound was far from a surprise.
I knew Super Size Me was not going to win Best Doc.
Best Picture and Director could have gone to either Aviator or Million Dollar Baby, so I didn't either were shocks or "upsets".
PEACE, Mike

Hmm, let me think...
This was the most predictable and boring Oscar show I have ever seen so far. The only highlights/upsets (besides Chis Rock's great hosting) were Million Dollar Baby's Best Picture win and probably The Motorcycle Diaries winning Best Song.

Clint Eastwood winning Best Director was the most thrilling, but then the BP win became so obvious.
Definitely Motorcycle Diaries for Best Song, though. It was the best song, though

Most predictable - compared to the prior year when ROTK won everything?
And as T said with the thrilling wins by Eastwood, plus for me - a first Best Actor win by Freeman and Swank's great 2nd Best Actress win.
Plus the excitment of whether Scorcese would finally win a big award.
And how do you think it was predictable - when you didn't pick those winners - doesn't seem that predictable.
-------------
I REALLY WOULD LOVE FOR LECTER TO ANSWER THIS SERIOUS QUESTION - AS HE WROTE SO MUCH ON THE SUBJECT - SO IT IS A FAIR QUESTION.
- Since he wrote so many times that Hillary Swank had no chance at the Best Actress Oscar and you even listed 2 other actresses over her. You didn't even pick her on the final day.
Then why are you not even listing her above as an upset. Based on you saying then she couldn't win, I would think, to you, this would be considered an upset.

ROTK winning everything was UNPREDICTABLE. I bet pretty much all knew it'd get Best Director/Picture, but how many really thought there will be a one-time-in-history 11:11 sweep? That was a surprise. Whether a good or a bad one is up for arguments.
Considering Swank was a heavy frontrunner, I wasn't surprised by her win. In the Oscar predicting game I predicted her as the 2nd-likely candidate, just behind Imelda Staunton, but her win would not surprise me at that point. Earlier yes, but at the point it came at, it was not surprising. I thought it wouldn't happen, though.
So...happy?

Yes as that is a complete answer that doesn't leave any questions.
