 Was KING KONG close to getting a BP nomination? I was so dissapointed it didn't get a Best Picture nod. It got 4 nominations and actually one 3 technical categories. A very strong strike rate. It was the year Brokeback Mountain lost to Crash  Having King Kong there would've made it a more interesting race (ala this year, what a total bore....having TDK would've kept it interesting at least).

I think they would've nominated Jackson before nominating the movie... because without him, its credibility would've gone down quite a bit (it would've been tossed aside as "just some action-adventure remake"). But it probably wasn't too far off.

Re: Was KING KONG close to getting a BP nomination? The thing about Kong is that if Jackson couldn't have finished post-production and I could have been the editor, I could have crafted a well honed classic from the bones of what is there.
The thing is just too... *much*. that's its biggest problem.
