AD and In Contention did a bit of digging and it appears that Slumdog is poised to become the single winningest awards film of all-time.

The only film that has won PGA/DGA/WGA/GG/Scriptor/BAFTA/Oscar is Schindler's List (BFCA and SAG Ensemble didn't exist back in 1993).

So if Slumdog wins BAFTA,WGA, and the Oscar, it's the king of the castle forever more.

I think Argos might be up to something here, though. Titanic did win 11 Oscars. That's not irrelevant.

Of course it isn't. ROTK's and Titanic's record means a lot more in terms of AMPAS history.

But when you look at the overall award season, Slumdog is in uncharted territory.

After it has won SAG, it is not surprising at all.

I mean even before the Oscar noms, the following were pretty much guaranteed: DGA, WGA, BAFTA.

And since TDK was snubbed, it was sure to get PGA too.

So it is now officially the most overrated film of all time.

I read about this over at In Contention. It's not my favorite movie of the year and doesn't deserve this much acclaim. But if anything, I'm happy that it's some out-of-nowhere sudden Oscar behemoth doing this instead of some predetermined Oscar bait favorite.

There's a misconception that Slumdog was left field. Reports out of Telluride were talking Oscar, same for Toronto.

That's the one thing keeping me okay with this win. That and the fact that my two favorite movies of the year, Wall-E and The Wrestler, aren't competing for the top prize. Still, it's annoying how at first it was cool to like this movie, but now everybody has taken the love way too far, leaving it hard to feel so positively about.

Get overrrrrrrrrrrrrr yourselves Slumdog haters. It's happening.

The movie wasn't very good, especially considering I had high expectations from all the accolades it has been getting. It's a okay movie, nothing more. How long before it gets remade with the title "Ghetto Millionaire?"

Godfather.

Except the Godfather is my favorite movie of all time, so that statement has no meaning to me.

Before it was screened though, not a single person thought it had any Oscar prospects, unlike the rest of the Best Picture line-up. In that sense it was incredibly left field.

ironically, all this is making me appreciate the Crash win over Brokeback just a tad because at least that went against all precursor signs.

But this just means that if Slumdog weren't to win, it would be seen as a total snub since it has won everything before the oscar.

They really need to do away with all the precursors. Or at least move the Oscars before all of the guilds or way after.

They did move the Oscars. Unfortunately, all the guilds moved too, lol.
