Post SAG Discussion Thread
The last stand for Benjamin Button, Slumdog really doesn't deserve Ensemble and while I think it can win without it, this would at least hold off the end.

Best Actor is probably the most important, I could see Penn, Rourke, and Langella all winning. Here are the full noms:

Actor
Richard Jenkins
Frank Langella
Sean Penn
Brad Pitt
Mickey Rourke

Actress
Anne Hathaway
Angelina Jolie
Melissa Leo
Meryl Streep
Kate Winslet, Rev Road

Supporting Actor
Josh Brolin
Robert Downey Jr.
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Heath Ledger
Dev Patel

Supporting Actress
Amy Adams
Penelope Cruz
Viola Davis
Taraji P. Henson
Kate Winslet

Ensemble
Benjamin Button
Doubt
Frost/Nixon
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire

I think it's between Milk and Slumdog Millionaire.

I wonder if they flew in the entire nominated "Slumdog" ensemble (including the child actors/actresses supposedly found on the streets of Mumbai) for these awards...

I think Stunt Ensemble would definitely go to The Dark Knight.

Would that award be handed out on-screen?

I forgot that one!

The Dark Knight
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Iron Man
Wanted

were there even any stunts in Crystal Skull?

Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road.

The Oscars already fucked over last year's best performance. Let's hope SAG doesn't make the same mistake.

I see them giving Supporting to Kate and going for Meryl in Lead here. I, of course, may be wrong.

What channel are these on tonight?

Hmm, I don't think Slumdog Millionaire will win Ensemble. Just doesn#t seem one of its strengths really. Not even among the supporters.

I see Milk winning Ensemble, actually. Then again, Doubt has FOUR acting noms, soi they obviously did like the Ensemble. It's between the two.

I predict:

Best Actor

Sean Penn

Best Actress

Meryl Streep

Best Supporting Actor

Heath Ledger

Best Supporting Actress

Kate Winslet

Best Ensemble

Milk

I guess we should turn this into the official thread for the show.

Fun fact, Ernest Borgnine is one of the presenters tonight. Considering what he did/said about Brokeback Mountain, it would be great if he had to award Penn or Milk.

If Milk wins Ensemble (and Actor, which I assume it would do in the scenario of winning Ensemble), then we could have a little suspense going into the Oscar night.

If Benjamin Button wins Ensemble, we could have some suspense going into WGA.

If Doubt wins Ensemble, Slumdog is locked up for BP since it will mean no consensus behind either Milk or BB.

If Slumdog wins Ensemble, we'll be looking at a big sweep on the Oscar night.

There is no chance Frost/Nixon will win.

"Curious Case" will win tonight, beginning a resurgence in the race.

Glancing at the Ensemble nominations, I wonder why:
- why weren't Saurabh Shukla and Ankur Vikal included in the "Slumdog" ensemble. The former played the portly constable who aids in the interrogation of Older Jamal and the latter plays the Fagin-esque gangster who finds slum children and turns them into blind singing beggars.
- why Joseph Foster wasn't included in the Doubt ensemble. He played the student Father Flynn (Hoffman) is suspected of molesting.

And it would have been hilarious if Anita Bryant had been included in the Milk ensemble. ;)

It's not SAG related but on the same token, I'm still wondering why Danny Boyle isn't sharing his Best Director wins with co-director Loveleen Tandan. That's some shady shit there.

pick your poison, either E! or TV Guide Channel for the Red Carpet specials. Both are populated with idiots.
