A simple question
I say yes.

are we counting 1906 (Brad Bird's live action retelling of the great San Francisco earthquake and fire)? It's a Warner Brothers Disney/Pixar co-production.
If so, yes.

I'm sorry but whoever says yes (for an animated Pixar film) is in denial.

Re: Will a Pixar animated film ever be nominated for BP?
Ive said it numerous times, the animated film category was created to rid the BP category of these pesky animated films which were starting to show up live action films. So no a Pixar animated film wont be getting a BP nom. A live action Pixar liek 1906 - then yes maybe.

Never... is a very dangerous word, lieutenant.
Yes. Pixar already seems so close to doing it, and they're barely a decade old with their mainstream work. In thirty years, as long as they keep their touch, I'm sure something will be especially amazing in an especially weak year and make its way in there.

well there won't be an AMPAS in 30 years, not as it's structured today anyway (everything will be VOD).

Does "not for at least a decade or more" count as "no"?

Including a shakeup in categories or if they produce live-action on some scale?

Apparently Lasseter and Pixar will be honored at this year's Mostra for some special achievements and innovations.
That's a step in the right direction.

Re: Will a Pixar animated film ever be nominated for BP?
well WALL-E went 1-6 tonight. It joins
Ratatouille 1-5 Cars 0-2 The Incredibles 2-4 Finding Nemo 1-4 Monsters Inc 1-4 Toy Story 2 0-1 A Bug's Life 0-1 Toy Story 0-3
5 nominations for Best Screenplay and no win yet. Hopefully original is light this year.

5 nominations for Best Screenplay and no win yet. Hopefully original is light this year. It's rather a shame particularly that Pixar has not yet won for Original Screenplay, in my opinion. Because as much their animation is truly magnificent, it is the original storytelling that Pixar brings forward that is the real shining achievement (and especially puts current Disney to shame). The terrific screenplays are why the films are so successful in many respects; the flawless animation is really just an added bonus. Peace, Mike

Re: Will a Pixar animated film ever be nominated for BP?
I don't even think a fall release and pulling it out of Animated film could do it.
1906 is the best hope.

Re: Will a Pixar animated film ever be nominated for BP?
The only way it'll EVER win Screenplay is if there are no BP contenders among the Original Screenplay nominees.
