If by weird you mean refreshingly quiet and unobnoxious, then.... yes.

He couldn't handle the success of Gran Torino.

I agree, loyal is missed during awards season, at least by me. It doesn't feel the same without him.

I see you as one of his followers. You follow his opinions, choose to see movies based on that, and in some cases, are influenced to like said movie or not by his opinions. He's become your James Berardinelli of this site, which probably is the logical reason for why you started dissing everything Clint Eastwood, didn't bother with Changeling (though, on paper, it was your type of Oscar bait female lead flick), yet was excited for and enjoyed Gran Torino, despite intially joining in on the snickers. Hell, for all I know, loyal's professed Sex in the City fanboyism might be the reason you did a complete 180 on that show, cause you used to loathe it until then. Sometimes people look to others and admire them and get enthused by their opinions on stuff, and you seem to be like that toward loyal heavily in the last few years. That's not an insult, just an observation, so that's why you probably miss him now so badly.

We probably disagree on movies 75% of the time. Crash is one of my favorite movies of the decade, Loyal hates it with a fiery passion. Same with Juno. Same with...a million other things. In terms of Changeling, I just never got around to seeing it because the meh reviews kind of turned me off. Gran Torino, I always wanted to see (I recall saying the original preview simultaneously made it look awful and awesome or something). Sex and the City, I wildly misjudged when I used to dislike it. I had seen like two or three episodes and was basing my opinion off of that, then my girlfriend made me watch a whole bunch of it and I fell in love.

Libs wrote: I like and admire Loyal, yes, but I really don't think you can argue I follow his opinions. We probably disagree on movies 75% of the time. I don't know about that, but I do remember a post of yours quoting him after he listed his favorites that said something like "Yay, we like the same things!". Those kinds of posts can give certain impressions, ya know. Quote: Crash is one of my favorite movies of the decade, Loyal hates it with a fiery passion. Same with Juno. Same with...a million other things. That was 2005, and the last time I ever remember you openly disagreeing with him, actually. (hey, I said you've only been like that for the past few years, so I was pretty accurate.) Quote: In terms of Changeling, I just never got around to seeing it because the meh reviews kind of turned me off. Gran Torino, I always wanted to see (I recall saying the original preview simultaneously made it look awful and awesome or something). That's what I mean. Loyal's anti Clint diatribe must have rubbed off, as you dissed Flags before it ever came out, never bothered going to theaters to see Letters, despite it being nominated for best picture, and was easily turned off because of Changeling reviews, even though they weren't THAT bad, and far worse reviews in the past have never turned you off. Quote: Sex and the City, I wildly misjudged when I used to dislike it. I had seen like two or three episodes and was basing my opinion off of that, then my girlfriend made me watch a whole bunch of it and I fell in love. I'll buy that, as I never knew why you wouldn't have liked it in the first place. It seemed like your type of thing. King Kong, on the other hand... I don't know how you even sleep at night after that review.

So where's Loyal? Don't make me have to go read his blog to find out.
Okay I see now, he's in Africa.

Mav, was Libs your "leader" when you watched every chick flick in existence and graded almost none of them lower than a B (I assume in order to please said leader)? Just wondering.

Alright, alright. Calm down everyone. Let's not take focus off of Loyal. He's fragile, he can't take it.

I gave a Drew Barrymore picture a C. Was I your leader when you followed me into every chick flick thread and took notes? That's the better question! Libs was most certainly who I followed when I wanted to watch a bunch of chick flicks and needed an authority to ask about them.

Every post not entirely focused on Loyal in this thread equals an entire night where Loyal cries himself to sleep.
Also, I just do whatever yoshue says.
