 Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
Which are you more excited to watch next week? First Black President or First Comic Book BP nominee?

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
That's a tough one! Haha but I have to go with Obama
I've been waiting for 1/20/09 for a long time.
At least they're not on the same day. That would be too much awesomeness for me to handle in one day.

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
obviously, Obama's inauguration is a more important and historic event than the Oscar nominees... but with the Oscar noms, we don't yet know exactly what's gonna happen, whereas with Obama's inauguration, we do.

1/20 is a packed day. Inauguration/Oscars/First day of spring semester should be fun though
Though Inauguration wins Oscars

Though Inauguration wins Oscars The nominations are Thursday, not Tuesday. Rorshach wrote: Fuck Obama. He's sooo 2008. WTF.

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
Oscar nom annoucements have always been done on Tuesdays so they moved it this year because of the inauguration.

I don't care at all about the inauguration. The election was important, yes. What's so special about the inauguration?

Inauguration. Or as I like to call it, the day America's Bush gets shaved

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
I'm mildly curious about if Clint Eastwood will get a Best Actor nom, but not really up for it beyond that. I feel the same about the Inauguration. Will he or won't he get shot at? I don't have any interest in what his promises and goals are.

Well they aren't on at the same times, and unlike the rest of you, it seems I'm able to handle more than one event a day

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
Obama, for the historical significance more than anything else.
And since I still haven't seen a number of the movies that will score nominations on Thursday (including the frontrunner, Slumdog, which still hasn't opened here), I'm not all that passionate about the race this year. The only things I really care that much about are The Dark Knight/WALL-E in Best Picture and Richard Jenkins in Best Actor. I'm crossing my fingers for all three, but I'd be happy with two of 'em.

Re: Oscar Nominations Or Obama Inauguration?
I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of waiting until Thursday. It's like pulling off a band-aid. Fast and quick, either WALL-E and TDK get in or not. I don't want to wait.

Waker of Winds wrote: Since I don't live in the US I could care less about Obama. Ditto. Unfortunately newscasters here think the opposite, so every few hours the main news is Obama's fucking inauguration. The Russia-Ukraine thing ended so I guess Obama is the news' milk-cow for these few days.
