It's just a few days until the announcement.

Last year, the SAG nominations were pretty crazy (The Ensemble nominees were 3:10 to Yuma, Into the Wild, Amercain Gangster, No Country for Old Men and Hairspray, very much against their usual attempts to predict the BP nominees with this category).

I think the SAG awards will be the last stance of hope for Revolutionary Road. If it scores less than two nominations here, it is absolutely DEAD.

I REALLY hope that Clint Eastwood doesn't get in. Is he REALLY that good? I mean... urggh. I just get rather sick of seeing him always pop up for anything and everything. It certainly makes me cynical. I can give you that he's a good director, but I hardly think nowadays he is anywhere near the best actors. Meh.

Peace,
Mike

the small things are gonna indicate what's this year's true frontrunner. If Dev Patel picks up a nom, I'd say Slumdog's the far and away leader for BP. If the Pitt/Blanchett/Henson trio gets in for Ben Button, I'd label it the frontrunner. Milk would need to pull off Actor and then both Brolin/Franco to send it back into the competitive race.

Slumdog Millionaire is one film that doesn't need an ensemble nom or any other nom for that matter from SAG, so if it gets one, whether it's supporting actor or ensemble, I'd consider it the current frontrunner.

RR desperately needs an ensemble nom to stay in the race. The Wrestler could get right back in as well with the ensemble and two acting noms.

TDK will be safe with an ensemble here. I'd say Frost/Nixon too.

I don't think BB needs ensemble, but it needs two noms total to stay in.

If Wall-E gets any nom, it's in. :)

If either Rachel Getting Married or Happy-Go-Lucky gets ensemble, and one or a few of the above films miss, they should be considered the prime candidate for the lone BD slot.

Doubt's an acting powerhouse, 5 nominations.

I remember a few months ago people were saying Downey Jr. was a pipedream.

I'd prefer not to comment on Slumdog's nomination because that film is a lot of things but a showcase for acting probably isn't one of them.

Slumdog is looking extremely strong. I didn't really expect any SAG nominations and it got two.

I maintain my position that every cast member of Doubt will be nominated for Oscars.

I think Downey Jr. is solidly in for Tropic Thunder, which is fun.
