ASC (Cinematographers) Winner - A Very Long Engagement
The Aviator
Collateral
The Passion of the Christ
Ray
A Very Long Engagement
The Aviator hasn't taken the tech guilds by storm so far. I think it is definitely a underdog now.
For reference, the Oscar nominees are the followings:
The Aviator
House of Flying Daggers
The Passion of the Christ
Phantom of the Opera
A Very Long Engagement
Great set of nominees, and anybody (maybe not Phantom) can win.

Great choice!
Cinematography in the past few years hasn't really lined up with Best Picture.
Collateral was probably more deserving this year tho.

Great choice! I have seen all of the nominees besides The Aviator and A Very Long Engagement was definitely the most deserving one.

Well, I think The Aviator is a lock for the oscar win. It's the only movie in that list that is also up for best picture and so when the voters are checking off their lists, they will go with what is most familiar and that is The Aviator. And it's not like it won't be well deserved, since Robert Richardson's photography is stunning. Of course, I wouldn't mind at all if it were to go to House of Flying Daggers.

I think The Aviator will win Cinematography too.
Although one must admit, for whatever reason, that Cinematography at the Oscars and Best Picture have NOT lined up in the last few years.

Deserved win for A Very Long Engagement (though I would've voted for Collateral of the nominees). There are some really tricky camera angles in this film, plus there were some really beautiful shots as well.
I'm beginning to think that The Aviator will win 5 or less Oscars.
