Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Shrek, and both Toy Story films couldn't do it with glowing reviews and solid box office totals. So really, there's no chance Wall-E gets a Picture nomination.

Yes, but there were rumors that Ratatouille was fairly close to scoring a BP nod (the wide nomination support it got seems to reinforce this), and the academy might be looking to nominate a real blockbuster in light of the ratings plunge this year. Pixar is like the premier source for quality blockbusters, too.

Of course, this could all be fanboy wank.

It'll pick up a Screenplay nod, which'll be the next best thing for an animated film.

As much as I want to say yes, I have to go with no. As long as there is that Best Animated Feature category (which is a horrible category to begin with), I don't see an animated film getting nominated anytime soon. Then again, it could be Disney's ET and if the year does turn out to be kind of weak, it could sneak in there. It has no chance of winning though.

I've still yet to be convinced that Pixar has any great ideas left after The Incredibles. Sure they got great execution, but it's just not enough.

We'll see. I'm open to the possibility.

For a film like this to get a groundswell of support from actors and directors and tech folks who traditionally make live-action movies is going to be quite an uphill battle.

Maybe if it beats Finding Nemo adjusted, if enough of the contenders turn out to be crap and gets even better reviews than Ratatouille. Other than that...nah.

I love Pixar, but honestly this film doesn't interest me that much and I don't like Andrew Stanton so I am out.

personally, animated is animated. Ratatouille was overrated and should be left at the curb. Move along.

As has already been addressed in this thread, huge critical and financial hits like Shrek, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille couldn't do it with the animated feature category in play. Hell, The Lion King and the Toy Story movies couldn't do it before the animated category.

Wall E is going to be the greatest film of all time.

I doubt it, but I wouldn't say it's out of the question. WALL-E seems to be not only the second best film of the year, but the best Pixar movie to date, and because Pixars owns the animation world, the best of its genre.
