Laughable lists...James McAvoy and Johnny Depp above Clooney and Mortensen there?
Philip Seymour Hoffman above Wilkinson and Affleck?
Garner above Keener and Redgrave?

Garner above Keener and Redgrave? Its a large panel of critics, Lecter. Like a Zietgiest of opinion from the industry it changes every week, this is the first week Garner has made it.

Garner above Keener and Redgrave? Philip Seymour Hoffman is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, and Johnny Depp's performance is being touted the best in his career. Tell me what about George Clooney's performance in Michael Clayton was any different from anything he's ever done.

in that case, you got me. except...Mortenson is behind both Depp and McAvoy in my opinion, since their films are up for BP while his isn't.

 Re: The Envelope.coms Critics Choices.
maybe not McAvoy as far as awards stuff goes, but he does have the advantage of having a likely BP nom at his back, whereas EP probably won't get anything aside from Original Screenplay. Depp is definitely ahead of Mortenson, though...he's been winning more than Mortenson has [not that it matters; this is maybe the most wrapped-up category at the Oscars, only after Supporting Actor]

See last year: Four of the five Best Actor nominees were the only nominations for their respective films (Only DiCaprio's Blood Diamond received four other noms, though none of the was for Best Picture. Whitaker, O'Toole, Gosling and Smith were the only nominees from their films).

 Re: The Envelope.coms Critics Choices.
I know they don't go hand-in-hand, but having a BP nom at your back can only help if you're fighting with someone for a spot. Then again, that should've meant that Leo would've gotten in for "Departed," not "Blood Diamond," so my argument seems to have no validity.
