Who will the 5th Best Actress spot go to?
The overall consensus is that Angelina Jolie, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Julie Christie have their noms pretty much locked up (even though personally, I'm not so sure about Jolie...)
However, the opinions on who'll get into the free 5th spot are quite diverse.
I think the following are the choices:
Amy Adams (Enchanted) Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) Laura Linney (The Savages) Keira Knightley (Atonement)
with some crazy ones suggesting Helena Bonham Carter (sweeney Todd), heh.

SAG is known to match up pretty well with the Oscar noms and the Best Actress category has matched 5:5 more often than not in recent years, but then again, The Golden Age reminds me quite a bit of Memoirs of a Geisha which also scored a Globes and a SAG nom for Ziyi, so I currently have Blanchett as my #6 pick.
I'd say, it's between Knightley and Adams with me leaning towards Knightley (even Cold Mountain got two acting noms!)

I'm still going with Amy Adams.
The Golden Age got horrid reviews and was more Globe-friendly. Keira is good in Atonement, but her performance is very quiet and subtle, and it's more of a supporting performance.

Ideally, from those 8 or 9 actresses, the lineup would be:
Ellen Page Marion Cotillard Julie Christie Amy Adams Keira Knightley
But realistically, I think Jolie will get Amy Adams' spot. So I guess the answer to your question is Keira Knightley will be the 5th.

Helena Bonham Carter deserves to be nominated and to win. It will be a huge injustice if she isn't nominated.

Linney deserves it, but at this point, I really have no idea who will get it. I hope it ain't Keira though (I like her a lot, but her role was nothing special)

Jolie is definitely not a lock yet.
1. Ellen Page - Juno 2. Julie Christie - Away From Her 3. Marion Cottilard - La Vie en Rose 4. Amy Adams - Enchanted 5. Angelina Jolie - A Mighty Heart
6. Keira Knightley - Atonement 7. Laura Linney - The Savages [i would just love to see her get in, though]

I dont think Adams will get nominated, her role is not the kind of film that gets actresses nominated no matter how good they are. My bet is that Jolie will sneak in there.

I'd say Knightley, but I'd love for it to be Adams.

I just say Waitress and ugh, Keri Russell should be in here. Damn you, academy bias against non-quirky comedies.
Blanchett or at the least Jolie will get nominated and Russell, Linney, and Adams will miss out. That SUCKS.
