Now here's a shocker! No Sideways and No M$B. The pendulum just swung a little bit more into the direction of Aviator...
edit: Just looked over at Oscarwatch, apparently because of the screener policy M$B wasn't seen by many of those who voted, that might explain that is was completely snubbed...

The best news is that Alan Alda is nominated in the supporting category. Maybe he can sneak in as a oscar nominee as well. That would be wonderful...

Million Dollar Baby wasn't eligible this year (I think due to its late release date).
I would suspect the same for Hotel Rwanda.
I don't know about Sideways.
My conspriacy theory is that alot of the guild love for Finding Neverland eminates from the British guild members.
I'm really happy for Shaun of the Dead (it will lose to Vera Drake but...) and that the Brits can see the magic in Harry Potter's numerous technical achievements (production design! YAY!)

That's wrong. It was on the shortlist before the final nominations (just look at oscarwatch.com)

Sideways was eligible, if you check the first round voting. Also Hilary Swank got past first round cut as well for Million Dollar Baby, so she missing the final nomination is surprising. But Yay for Zhang Ziyi! =D> Great showing for House of Flying Daggers.

It wasn't on the shortlist for Best Picture. Only Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman were on the shortlist after first round. The committee didn't put M$B on the best picture shortlist because only a few people have seen it.

Do you think they will nominate it next year then? Seems like a long-shot.

The picture is a long shot, but I could imagine they can make Hilary Swank eligible again if she won oscar. They love to nominate the oscar winning actresses if they missed the previous year.
The best actress nominees look weird but expected, except for no Swank. There were a lot of speculation that Kate will get nominated for both since both her performances made the first round cut. Charlie Theron was expected to be there following the tradition, and they certainly won't ignore Imelda. Only Zhang Ziyi was a little surprising, but we saw a lot of love coming for House of Flying Daggers from the first round cut.

Yesterday there were ten movies listed for best picture that made the second (or third?) round on Oscarwatch and M$B as well as Sideways were included...

It would't be fair to nominate her when she was eligible this year. At least I don't think so.

That's weird. Sideways was included after the first round too. It was eligible all the way, but if you check this thread, http://www.worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3034, you will see Million Dollar Baby isn't included, and that's directly from their website.

You're right. I just checked their forum. They probably messed up the news on their front page...

No real surprises for me. The Bafta's are always a bit off from the US awards just because of how they screen.
