 Golden Globe Predictions
So who do you think is gonna walk away with the statues? Who will leave empty handed? Here's my take in the film catagories:
Best Picture, Drama
The Aviator
It just seems to have the most momentum out of the five nominees. Plus, who from the Hollywood Foriegn Press can resist a movie about Hollywood (well...at least a lot of it is).
Best Picture, Comedy or Musical
Sideways
Ray could pull an upset, but I'm putting my eggs in this basket because it appears to have the strongest critical reviews. It's also slightly reminiscent of Lost In Translation's win last year.
Best Director
Clint Eastwood, Million Dollar Baby
Mmmm, toss up between Marty and Clint :???: Since Scorsese won so recently, I'm betting Estwood will take it...by a hair.
Best Actor, Drama
Johnny Depp, Finding Neverland
Another tight race Just a hunch, although I wouldn't be surprised if Leo wins it.
Best Actress, Drama
Hillary Swank, Million Dollar Baby
Swank's performance will KO the competition.
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy
Jamie Foxx, Ray
Carrey's great as well, but Foxx is a no-brainer. Probably the safest bet anywhere.
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy
Annette Bening, Being Julia
The HFP loves actors who play actors. She's also part of Hollywood's elite.
Best Supporting Actor
Thomas Harden Church, Sideways
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Freeman wins it, but I'm gonna go with my gut yet again. Church arguably gives the strongest performance in a much-loved movie filled with great acting.
Best Supporting Actress
Cate Blanchett, The Aviator
Like what I said with Bening, she's got that whole 'actor-playing-actor' thing. She seems to have a solid lock on it.
Best Screenplay
Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, Sideways
I really want Eternal Sunshine of the Spottless Mind to get some love, but the movie seems to have lost a bit too much steam. Sideways seems to have the HFP by the balls and I think they'll want to reward the quirky script.[/list]

Best Picture, Drama
The Aviator
Has everything going for it. It is also pushed by Miramax. A definite choice by the HFPA
Best Picture, Comedy or Musical
Sideways
It's a lock. It's winning awards left and right, getting infinite praise.
Best Director
Martin Scorcese
Pretty much a lock, I think. He won for a weaker GONY...
Best Actor, Drama
Don Cheadle, Hotel Rwanda
Depp and DiCaprio will cancel each other out, Cheadle will get the dge.
Best Actress, Drama
Hillary Swank, Million Dollar Baby
LOCK
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy
Jamie Foxx, Ray
LOCK
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy
Annette Bening, Being Julia
Ot's either her or Winslet, my guts tell me it's her.
Best Supporting Actor
Thomas Harden Church, Sideways
It'll be between him and Freeman, but I think that Sideways will get at least one acting award.
Best Supporting Actress
Cate Blanchett, The Aviator
She's due, she plays a Hollywood legend that died not too long ago and she is actually THAT good.
Best Screenplay
Sideways
Well, either that or Eternal Sunshine...
Best Song:
"Old Habits"
C'mon, it's Mick Jagger!
Best Foreing Picture:
The Sea Inside
It is actually THAT good.

Best Picture (Drama)
- The Aviator
Best Picture (Comedy or Musical)
- Sideways
Best Director
-Clint Eastwood (Million Dollar Baby)
Scorsese got it two years ago, so I don't think he'll get it again this soon. Plus the GG's like to spread the wealth around.
Best Actor (Drama)
-Leonardo Dicaprio (The Aviator)
A tough call between Leo, Cheadle, and Depp.
Best Actress (Drama)
-Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake)
Best Actor (Musical or Comedy)
- Jamie Foxx (Ray)
Best Actress (Musical or Comedy)
- Kate Winslett (ESOTSM)
I'm predicting an upset in this category. Winslett will finally win a major award for this performance.
Best Supporting Actor
- Thomas Haden Church (Sideways)
Sideways should win at least one acting award and I think this is most likely.
Best Supporting Actress
- Natalie Portman (Closer)
I may regret this prediction, but the GGs love up-and-coming starlets.
Best Screenplay
-Sideways
Best Song...couldn't even guess.
Best Foreign Film
-The Sea Inside

You can see the other thread, but I'm sticking to my prediction that The Aviator won't win Best Picture tonight.
I will most likely be wrong, but...

 Re: Golden Globe Predictions
Best Picture, Drama - The Aviator
Almost a foregon conclusion. Scorsese's last film won out to The Hours. That will not happen again.
Best Picture, Comedy or Musical - Sideways
This is a foregone conclusion.
Best Director - Alexander Payne, Sideways
You know... Eastwood and Scorsese have won this before...
Best Actor, Drama - Leonardo DiCaprio, The Aviator
Perfect win, and he's wonderful.
Best Actress, Drama - Hillary Swank, Million Dollar Baby
No chance.
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy - Jamie Foxx, Ray
Safest bet at GG and safest bet at Oscars
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy - Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Who cares about all these misc. stats about Annette Bening, nobody cares about this movie or her. Whereas Kate Winslet is an it girl in people and has TWO films in contention that she could both be nominated for.
Best Supporting Actor - Thomas Harden Church, Sideways
Globes are TV + Movies, and now that I think about it, it might give Church the edge over Freeman (who's still as much in the running, in fact maybe a little more than Church, for Oscar win).
Best Supporting Actress - Cate Blanchett, The Aviator
This is probably the defining supporting role of the year.
Best Screenplay - Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, Sideways
Easy.
Best Foreign Film - The Motorcycle Diaries
Best Song - "Old Habits", Alfie
Origional Score - Howard Shore, The Aviator
Although... he just won LAST YEAR.

Funnily enough...I had a dream last night about Hotel Rwanda winning it

Best Picture, Drama, The Aviator
Best Picture, Comedy or Musical, Sideways
Best Director - Clint Eastwood, Million Dollar Baby (I just dont see Martin winning a second in 3 years. Payne is actually looking pretty good to me right now, but I'm sticking with Clint.)
Best Actor, Drama - Leonardo DiCaprio, The Aviator
Best Actress, Drama - Hillary Swank, Million Dollar Baby (But don't count out Imedla)
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy - Jamie Foxx, Ray
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy-Annette Bening, Being Julia
Best Supporting Actor-Clive Owen, Closer (Maybe more because I want him to win, but he has a great shot) THC or MF are the only other two who can win.
Best Supporting Actress-Virginia Madsen, Sideways (I'm thinking Cate might get this, but, again because I liked Virginia's performance better and she's getting more acclaim than Cate, I think she'll get it. Cate's already won before.)
Best Screenplay - Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, Sideways
Best Foreign Film -House of Flying Daggers
Best Song - "Old Habits Die Hard", Alfie
Original Score-Finding Neverland (This will be the lone win, if it gets anything)
