How many nominations will Ratatouille receive?
Ratatouille currently has a score of 94 at MC, 100% COTC at RT with an 8.3 average, and will definitely end up as one of the 5 best reviewed films of the year. It's a lock to win Best Animated Feature, but how many more could it get? Finding Nemo had original screenplay, original score, and sound editing, while The Incredibles got original screenplay, sound editing, and sound mixing, so I think a screenplay nomination is a lock, and at least one of the sound categories. Haven't seen the film, so don't know about the score yet. Overall 4 total minimum and could push 5.

So are animated films eligible for Best Picture anymore?

Yes, they still are, just like foreign films, but having a category of its own lowered the possibility to close to zero.

Hopefully we can have a shitty year, quality wise... that way Ratatouille can sneak in

Animated Feature
Original Screenplay
Score
The film doesn't seem to be a very sound-heavy film, like Nemo (Water sound effects) and The Incredibles (Essentially a superhero film), so I don't think it'll get in there. However, I currently see it getting into Score, seeing as Giacchino was somehow snubbed for his great work on The Incredibles.

If there is any justice, O'Toole should be nominated again and win this time. The praise for his voice in the film is universal. Unfortunately, like Ellen DeGeneres in Finding Nemo, it won't happen.

Yeah, but how would it make O'Toole feel if he won his Oscar for an animated film? Not for Lawrence of Arabia, but for Ratatouille. And what are the odds of a voice performance getting nominated? Are they even eligible?

Shitty year is likely, but a nom is not.

I think he just wants to win one. And his voice did define the character in Lawrence too.

O'Toole getting a nomination would be nuts. But maybe if it's a weak year.

He's not eligible.
I could all see Animated Film, Screenplay, Score, maybe Sound or Sound Editing just because it's common for Pixar, but is not a sound-heavy film. Is there a song? As for picture, if the year really sucks, maybe, but it's been quite a false hope for a lot of their films.

Why is he not eligible? I know it's not gonna happen anyway but I'm pretty sure he is at least eligible (O'Toole).
It deserves supporting actor and best picture but it's not gonna happen.
screenplay, animated film, sound editing and maybe sound mixing.

Hmm, is this recent? It doesn't really make much sense that disney would spend so much money on their campign for ellen degeneres if she's not even elligible. and then new line with andy serkis.

I think it came up with these issues a few years back, actually.

The Academy will fob it off with a few minor noms and the Best Animated award.
Tragic really.

Animated Film
Screenplay
Score
so, I'd say it's lock for these three..
and may get one of two sound categories..
so, 4

The screenplay is one of the best I've come across. I can't imagine many screenplays, if any, that will be better this year.
I really hope it wins at least screenplay and animated film. The score was wonderful too.

I was going through Pixar's website today. And am fascinated with everything they do.
Quote: Pixar's RenderMan was used in 41 of the last 44 films nominated for a Best Visual Effects Oscar by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
I mean, that's just flat out fantastic.

I think it will rack up four or five. It's locked on for Animated Feature, where it should win without breaking a sweat. I'm betting it will snatch nods in Original Screenplay and Original Score, and I'm thinking it will pick up a nod in one (if not both, hence "four or five") of the Sound categories.
