I'm thinking about a new Oscar prediction game. The main thing in this game that not only the final predictions are matters. It's about how you can develop your predicting through the whole year. We start our predictions early May, it's hard to tell who will get a nomination, but it's fun to look back. So there's 6 turn. First you'll make your predictions in May. Then the second turn is in July. But you can only change one nominee in each cathegory. The third turn is in September, the same rule. The fourth is in November, we'll see things clearly around that. 5th round December, final round January. That means that you can change all your early May predictions. But, you'll get more points if you had a film in your list in the beginning. Let me explain:
May - you choose A, B, C, D, E
June - you replace A for F
September - you replace B for G
November - you replace F for H
December - you replace D for M
January - you replace B for N
So your final prediction is: E, G, H, M, N - you get points for the correct prediction, but you get more points if you had that film or films earlier. So you get huge amount of pont for E, because you had it in May.
The reason is that you can replace one when a new turn comes is then your early predictions are matters, if you could change all your predictions, then the whole game is pointless. It's a little bit different predicting the final nominees, because most of the times we are very close to each other, but this is an improvement game.
All we need is to discuss the points. After the nominations, of course you can predict the winners, but you can choose only from your list, for example if you had only 2 correct nominees, you can not pich something else to win.
I though we can play this in the following categories: Film, Director, Actor, Actress, Sup. Actor, Supp. Actress, Screenplay, Animation - that's what we can predict, it makes no sense to predict all, especially costume and make up, but score and visula effect can be added. What do you think about the game? We need at least 10 player, to make sense, and start developing the rules.
