HOLY SHIT. The Kazakh National Anthem is eligible!!! Dammit, if Borat is to make an appearance at the awards, nominate the song! He should at least sing the song with a full chorus.
Is the song from Poseidon the one sung by Fergie? HAHA

The Kazakh National Anthem would be the greatest nomination of all time. Seriously.
Nice to see "PJ & Rooster" there. I didn't see the film, but I LOVE the song. And "'Til the End of Time"...nice.
And apparently Three 6 Mafia sung the Rocky song, so they could go two in a row.
My current predictions:
“A Father’s Way†from “The Pursuit of Happynessâ€Â
“I Need to Wake Up†from “An Inconvenient Truthâ€Â
“Listen†from “Dreamgirlsâ€Â
“Our Town†from “Cars"
“Til the End of Time†from “Little Miss Sunshineâ€Â
Alt. “The Song of the Heart†from “Happy Feetâ€Â

O Kazakhsta...giggle
The Rocky song sucks.
Happy to see Star Mile from Joshua Radin there. Would be great to see it nominated. That's the oneI'll be rooting for.

"Love You I Do" or "Listen" will win.

Probably "Listen" (although I haven't actually heard Love You I Do yet)
It's a really great song, Beyonce certainly sings the heck out of it too.

Love You I Do is the eligible Hudson solo. It's a good song too. But the Hudson connection is why it could win.

True
But I almost feel as if the Academy thinks they'll be rewarding Beyonce somehow by giving the win to Listen
It also has the highest commercial viability of any song in the movie, imo, considering it was already on Beyonce's B'Day album and all.

I'm pretty sure Listen will get the nomination over Love You I Do. Though, it would be really cool to see Hudson perform at the Oscars.
Other then that, don't discount Avril Lavigne's "Keep Holding On" from sneaking in. Despite the fact that the movie was critically reviled, it is the sort of song the academy would go for, don't you think?

Critically panned movies do tend to get nominated in Best Original Song.
Case in point, Mannequin.

Heh, and "Keep Holding On" is just an Oscar-ish type song, I guess. I'd say it has a pretty good chance. Not at the win though.

If the Academy is looking to award a song for its context within a film (as they did last year with Three 6's song in Hustle & Flow), then Listen is their winner.

Well Listen is just about assured a nod, I think. I wonder if one of the foreign songs will get a nod as well ala 2004's The Chorus Line's inclusion? Hopefully they won't get Beyonce to completely butcher it again. Heh.

go Chris Cornell! Long shot, but if "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" can win, anything is possible.

Quote: Oscars won't 'Listen' to Beyonce; she's disqualified in song race
You can not only forget about Beyonce Knowles winning an Oscar for best actress this year. (If you haven't heard, a certain ingenue keeps upstaging her throughout "Dreamgirls." And in the race for best comedy/musical actress at the Globes, she's up against a real devil  Meryl Streep  who knows a lot about winning that award.) Now it looks like Beyonce won't win an Oscar as a songwriter either  for "Listen," one of the original new tunes added to the original Broadway score. Officially, she's listed as one of the song's four writers, but the motion-picture academy only permits three names  max  as a credit.
Oscar Rule 16 is fairly new, by the way. At the 2003 derby, seven people were cited as cowriters of "Accidentally in Love" from "Shrek 2." In 1981, four folks won for writing "'Arthur's' Theme." Oscar guru Wayman Wong asserts that limiting the number of songwriters to three "is kinda arbitrary," adding, "The Oscars, of course, give out four Oscars in other categories, like visual effects and sound." However, the academy does limit the number of producers who get credit for best picture to three in its Rule 17 The Oscars' songwriting branch has decided to qualify only Henry Krieger, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler for writing "Listen." No explanation is given for why Beyonce is excluded over the others. Is this just one of those cases of where the singer insisted upon having her name added to credits as part of her performance deal? In media interviews, she's often said that she was truly involved in its songwriting. Apparently, not to the extent as her three collaborators, according to the Oscars.

Does anyone know if "The Neighbor" from Shut Up and Sing is eligible? It's not on the list from what I can see, but OscarWatch has it in their predictions so I'm confused.

I hope it gets nominated. I'd love to see her perform at the awards.
