Wow, no Little Children? And The Illusionist got in over it? Now that's just bad.

Pretty weak year for literature adaptations. I say Notes takes it, being the only film I'm predicting right now for an Oscar nom.

Did BOM go nuts when this happened, like OW? That was crazy fun over there, them using their shit.

Is it wrong to hope that Scripter made a boo-boo and mysteriously add Little Children, a la the Satellites?

Considering the fact that they stuck with the MR/Seabiscuit despite what seemed like death threats from Ringers. . .no.

So I guess the ranking for the adapted screenplay category is looking like this:

1. The Departed
2. Notes on a Scandal
3. Little Children
4. Dreamgirls
5. Children of Men
6. Devil Wears Prada
7. The Last King of Scotland
8. Thank You for Smoking

5 and 6 are interchangeable. The Painted Veil is dead, and Smoking takes a hit.

They were extremely accurate last year (Syriana moved to original at the Oscars). But I think this year will be different...

Veil still as the NBR. I think we should wait until the WGA announces to declare movies dead (Though Veil looks likely to miss). And considering Prada's refusal to go away this season, I'd say it's above CoM for now.

Little Children is ranked too high, since it was actually eligible for this category in USC. At best it is fighting for the fifth slot and can be an easy miss despites its GG nomination (ala About Schmidt, Love Actually, The Man Who Wasn't There).

Interesting in that they come across as morons.

Out of their 18 years history, only three winners didn't go on to get a nomination at Oscar's adapted screenplay: 84 Charing Cross Road (1987), A Civil Action (1998), and The Hurricane (1999).

Yay, COM! :D

Now let's hope the WGA snub isn't fatal.
