Snakes on a Plane's Oscar chances
No, I'm not kidding. I don't think it deserves one but while watching the credits in which the music video was prominently featured I thought if the Academy will nominate SoaP for Best Original Song. This is the one category where they always try to be hip and youth oriented and how better could they demonstrate how cool they are by nominating the song?

Hm, the day Snakes on a Plane will be an Oscar nominee will be the same day Mel Gibson converts to Judaism.

That song by Three 6 Mafia was a huge part of Hustle & Flow though, this isnt.

That song was horrible.
The "hip" winners like "It's Hard Out for a Pimp" and "Lose Yourself" were integral to their films and were films about music anyway.

Phil Collins winning again would be the most un-"hip" thing ever... He... just... can't...

I don't see it making it. Not when multiple songs are eligible from both Dreamgirls and Idlewild. Also, An Inconvenient Truth's "I Need to Wake Up" by Melissa Etheridge should grab a spot as well. Plus songs from A Prairie Home Companion, Cars, Over the Hedge and Curious George will be considered first over SOAP. Competition is just too much this year.

Chances are that Dreamgirls will have at least 2 noms in Best Song, if not 3.
That leaves little room for the hip crazy nom.

Yes heres Reece Witherspoon this year:
And the winner is...........
You got to be kidding me...
Samuel L. Jackson for Snakes on a Plane!
I'm sorry Mr. Jackson isn't here as he thought there be no way he would win.
And heres if Billy Crystal hosts the Oscars before the Oscars:
*Crystal on a plane*
Crystal: Oh no! Get these snakes off the plane Mr. Jackson you Jedi Knight!

The Last Kiss' Paperweight from Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk is amazing. Hopefully it'll be nominated

Since this is the de-facto song thread:
Eragon has a new song written for the movie by Avril Lavigne called "Keep Holding On"

I am rooting for Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" and Jack Johnson's "Upside Down."
