Supposedly he gives a tremendous performance in Reign O'er Me, a film about the personal aftermath of 9/11 costarring Don Cheadle. I've always liked Sandler so I hope for the best.

P.S.
He looks like Bob Dylan in some of those pics

I'd love to see him up for an oscar. He is a good actor and his turn in PDL proved it. Also, Click was very emotional as well. And yes, he does look like Dylan.

I didn't know there was a 3rd semi-9/11 movie this year.

But yeah I would like to see him in the race.

Well, I think he deserved a nom for Punch Drunk Love, so I wouldn't be that opposed to the idea if he's really good in this role...

I like Wells' writing more than most, but the truth is, he's good friends with Binder, which I suspect may be clouding his judgement on this one. Mike Binder couldn't write an Oscar invitation, let alone an Oscar-winning movie.

I think I posted this in the indie forum a few months ago when info on this starting coming out (before we had pictures).... looks like it might be a winner. He could be a candidate.

Sorry, but I don't buy Sandler in a dramatic role, even after films like Spanglish...

I thought for a second that you meant for "Click".

Same, and I chuckled at the absurdity. Here's my Review if you're interested.

I hadn't heard much about this one before now actually. There's been so much press around United 93, because it was the first theatrical 9/11 movie, and World Trade Center, because of Stone's name and persona and the fact that it deals with and shows the towers falling, that this has gotten swept under the rug. I really want Sandler to break out of the mold of his pathetic man-child roles (Click included, again, read my review) and go for something challenging that doesn't necessarily aim for making teenage guys laugh. Punch Drunk Love was a huge first step in the right direction, Spanglish was another (baby) step, and Click was like a punch to the face and falling down the stairs. I thought he was deeper in The Longest Yard. Here though, maybe we'll really have something.

Here's to hoping.
