It'll be remembered, not just because it won best picture since a lot of winners are forgotten by now, but also because it has an average of 8.4 and ranks No. 74 on IMDb; in addition, it will always be associated with Brokeback in some sense.

Best Picture winners = Go down in history as the most remembered. The fact that is THE BIGGEST FUCKING UPSET EVER will only add to Crash's ability to stick around for a long long time. Like Driving Miss Daisy and The Last Emporer, of which we would never remember if it wasn't for the win, it will always be there. It has it's spot written in stone as "Best Picture Winner: 2005".

I think that Saving Private Ryan losing to Shakespeare in Love was a far bigger shock then this actually, and that's just in the last eight years. Yeah it was a shock, but not one that some people didn't forecast.

Well, SIL at least had the most nominations and won Best Comedy at the Globes, where Crash got TWO nomination, NOT including Best Picture.

Seriously again, how many movies get remembered? You hear people talking about M$B still? Crash isnt a memorable movie, it will never be looked as a classic, it's just one of those years where a small movie that not alot of people saw wins and gets forgotten. Not to mention this years oscars was so uneventful and not many people watched. Will it get remembered the same way something like Shakespeare in Love gets remembered? Sure, a movie that alot of people disliked and thought didnt deserve to win happened to win, but it wont be looked as anything other then that.

Shakespeare in Love is the biggest upset ever. Harvery bought that one.

While Crash will never be completely forgotten, it will go down as one of the weaker Oscar winners of all time. Comparisons to Shakespeare in Love seem very appropriate.

Crash is a decent movie, but BP of the year. Wow. Crash is the new Shakespere In Love, though that movie was easily the worst movie ever to win BP.
Maybe it was a vote against Brokeback Mountain rather than a vote for Crash.
I completely ignored the oscars and went to the casino.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned A Beautiful Mind, one of the most loathed wins of the last decade.

A Beautiful Mind does honestly seem to have been a bit forgotten.
I love that movie, though, so...

Wow... that's true. That might be even more of a forgetable Oscar winner than SIL. I actually had to think about that one for a moment... "A Beautiful Mind won the Oscar... oh, yeah..." .
Good example, that will be Crash in a few years.

Atleast Beautiful Mind was a monster at the BO, people actually saw that movie.

As much as many would like it here, a movie that made it into IMDB's all-time Top 100 and looks to stay there, won't be forgotten soon.

Of all the films that came out this year, Crash deserved to win. It obviously is not my pick, that would go to Revenge of the Sith. But of the nominated films, Crash is the bestone out there. I think Brokeback was very good, but Crash was better. for once, I seem to understand where the academy is coming from this year. I'm glad LEE was BD but I am also glad that Crash took home top prize.

Im gonna put it like this. This years oscars will never be remembered as the year Crash won, they will always ALWAYS be remembered as the year Brokeback lost.

Crash is a fantastic film
I think people are losing sight of that because they are blinded by their will for Brokeback Mountain to win.
Crash bloody well deserved it, not quite as much as Brokeback, but nearly.

There are films that are remembered because they won Oscar, and there are other films that would've been remembered anyway and just happened to win Oscar as well. Crash belongs to the first group.

Much like when Shakuhspeere in Luv beat SPR, Crash beat BBM. We all know how people feel about Shakuspeere and how everyone remembers it, not even 10 years later.

Well, its wierd how Crash had an 8.4 on imdb long before it was an oscar nominee.
It clearly didn't go out purposely looking for oscar love initially, its release date saw to that.
People are coming down way too hard on it here.
Where I'm at, people love Crash way more than Brokeback. But I personally give the latter the mild edge, both are in my top 25.
