Post Why is Oscar's Best Picture greater (more important) honor..
...than any other, like Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay?

For example: The talks between Brokeback Mountain and Crash awarded as Best Picture nominees, and then Crash wins BP. I've heard upsets and joys over that, esp. the movie's quality itself, with an exception to the atrocious BBM vs. Crash debatable fight that we mostly heard everywhere in the world. But both movies won their own awards for scripts. Why could motion picture be more important than the script itself? Is it because everything matters, like the acting, direction, the technical crew, etc.? Is it because a script can be more than a script? What are other logics to this argument?

I don't mean to heat things up, but I post this out of my curiosity, esp. since I don't believe in awards at all.

The general public only acknowledges the biggest award win - the best picture. All the other stuff is trivial, to the general public.
