Post ASC Winner - Memoirs of a Geisha
Oscarwatch reports that Memoirs of a Geisha (as expected) wins the Cinematographer's award.

Their track record has somewhat been muddled lately, so it will still be Geisha v. Brokeback and Good Night as spoiler.

This is a surprise to me and just shows us how strong and immune Memoirs is with the tech branches. It just made me wonder "what if" even more. With the current situation, still think Brokeback Mountain will take the cinematography oscar.

Impresseive for Geisha. I start thinking that it actually might take Cinematography at the Oscars as well...

Is it possible Geisha may win more Oscars than Brokeback?

Geisha - Score, Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume

Brokeback - Picture, Director, Screenplay

This is going to be a tight race between Geisha and Brokeback.

Geisha is so pretty, but really, it's nothing all that new. Or groundbreaking. And I guess you could say the same thing about Brokeback...

But whereas I just see Geisha as really, really beautiful, Brokeback has complex, staggering shots that have pretty much been ingrained in my memory ever since seeing the fim (Ennis in front of the fireworks, the scene where Alma confronts Ennis as they face opposite directions, the final scene with the pan to the window).

It's more nuanced cinematography, I say, and hence my rooting for it.

The ASC has rarely matched in the last years, and I don't see this one as an exception..

Brokeback will take it
