Post So who were the BIGGEST LOSERS on Oscar night?
So who were the night BIGGEST LOSERS this Oscar night?

Brokeback Mountain > which side of the fence does it fall on. I say LOSER as Picture was the one that mattered.

Paul Giamatti > boy did he look pissed and no make-up for the Sideways event.

Heath and Michelle > Most losses by a family / couple > Anyway, I almost started to buy Lecter's agrument that they would both win. Glad that this was wrong cause neither was deserving.

Munich > Receiving Nothing ???

Good Night and Good Luck > Receiving Nothing ???

Etc.

continue with any of your choices..............

Ryan probably went home and said "Well, my movie won BP and yours wasn't even nominated."

This wasn't surprising, so I wouldn't call it a big loser.

None of the wins surprised me, I know peopel are calling Crash abig upset, but the writing was one the wall. The wins all seemed predictabel to me, its not like when Brody beat Daniel Day Lewis...nothing shocked me.

I think Munich deserved some kind of Oscar...How can you say it didn't need to be honored in some way?

I feel bad for Paul Giamatti. I knew he wasn't going to get anything for Cinderella Man, but he should have got something for the past few years of films. Maybe Lady in the Water can get him something.

Brokeback has to be considered a loser considering it was expected to win Best Picture. It didn't even win Best Actor and the Best Director was just a consolation prize that Spielberg should have won anyway.

John Fucking Williams going home empty handed after being nominated twice.

Perhaps the greatest composer of film music of all time and he hasn't won an oscar since Schindler's List?!!! Ridiculous.

Munich was a big loser no matter what anyone says. It was a big loser the day it came out and didnt live up to the incredible amount of hype it had, should've been a frontrunner for best picture and should've been the buzz of all hollywood, instead it's a movie that got shit award wise and performed very mediocre at the BO.

If some people havnt seen the trailer for All the Kings Men yet, here ya go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeECinyKvtk

The movie based on the trailer looks fantastic and the cast seems incredible, but theres got to be something up if they decided to move it to 06'

seems like a BIG OSCAR WINNER was the LOSER.

heard today that this was the first time in 40 + years that no film got 2 of the top 6 awards.

Maybe the academy feels he has enough Oscars on his mantlepiece. These things don't always go to the best, after all.

And if you want to talk about people who deserved Oscars who never got one, how about this list:

Directors:
Alfred Hitchcock
Robert Altman
Sidney Lumet
Ingmar Bergman
Martin Scorsese
Akira Kurosawa
Orson Welles
Frederico Fellini
Stanley Kubrick
Ridley Scott
Tim Burton
Ingmar Bergman
Spike Lee
Mike Leigh
Howard Hawks
Roberto Rossellini

Actors:
Peter O'Toole
Samuel L Jackson
Richard Burton
Montgomery Clift
Robert Redford
Richard Harris
Morgan Freeman
Albert Finney
Sean Penn
Brad Pitt
Harrison Ford
Donald Sutherland
Cary Grant
Hugh Grant
Kirk Douglas

Actresses:
Meg Ryan
Marilyn Monroe
Michelle Pfeiffer
Greta Garbo
Lauren Bacall
Deborah Kerr
Gloria Swanson
Glenn Close
Cate Blanchett
Ava Gardner

Sean Penn, Morgan Freeman and Cate Blanchett all won in recent years.

As for the loser of the night, it's got to Brokeback. After being so successfull at the Guilds and the Globes, this loss had to taste extra sour.

Blanchett won for The Aviator and Penn won for Mystic River, but yeah, your point is taken. It just kills me every time I realize that Hitch never won an Oscar :disgust: . But was he ever nominated twice in his category? ;)

I actually went over all the films now and have to say Brokeback was probably the biggest and only loser.

Good Night and Good Luck came close because although it was really a small film pushed so far and into the light because of Clooney and whatever, it was expected to leave empty-handed... at least by the majority.

so it seems like people are split starting mostly with BBM, for losing the big prize, and then Munich and then next GNAGL for receiving nothing.

can't write more now > will review in detail later on others

but Meg Ryan??? wondering if you had a crush on her when she was hot, looking and BO wide, during the late 80 and early 90's.

She was the queen of the romance movies for 10 years but not sure about her deserving an Oscar.
