The New World - Best Cinematography

That's the one that I will stand up and cheer for if it pulls off the win.

Yep.

I'd also love of Hurt pulled off a win for HOV, and Huffman for BA.

The only one I don't have a clear favorite in is lead actor. They all did well, and I have yet to see Hustle & Flow (accidentally) but will by then. Right now I'd love, really, if Strathairn or Hoffman pulled it off over Ledger, though. But even Phoenix was good. They all did on par performing, its just that those two really stood out for me this year. I think them and Ganz were the only three men I mentioned by name in my annual wrapdown, and Kilcher, Alche, and the ladies from My Summer of Love were the only women.

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Philip Seymour Hoffman - CAPOTE
Terrence Howard - HUSTLE & FLOW
David Strathairn - GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK.

^I'm really happy to see all of these. I loved Ledger, but the above come from actors that REALLY deserve some recognition. I'm probably most pleased with the Strathairn nomination.

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
^I don't really favor any actors. No surprises or anything particularly interesting. Meh.

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Felicity Huffman - TRANSAMERICA
Keira Knightley - PRIDE & PREJUDICE

^Love these two. So much. I'm especially glad to see Felicity get a nod.

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Catherine Keener - CAPOTE
^Incredibly solid actress that I'll be rooting for, though every nominee (sans McDormand) really deserved it.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM OF THE YEAR
TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE
^Woo! Great flick.

ACHIEVEMENT IN ART DIRECTION
GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK.
^Who does NOT love the period studio sets here?

ACHIEVEMENT IN CINEMATOGRAPHY
THE NEW WORLD
^Hands down some of the best cinematography I've ever seen. I'm really hoping it'll pull the win, but it will likely fall into the hands of BBM.

ACHIEVEMENT IN COSTUME DESIGN
MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA

^Perhaps Geisha's strongest point - the lovely costume design.

ACHIEVEMENT IN DIRECTING
CAPOTE

^I'm not sure if Miller is the most deserved director- I haven't seen Capote. I just tend to treasure the underdog.

BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
^Meh.

ACHIEVEMENT IN FILM EDITING
MUNICH
^Nothing needs to be said. Munich had fantastic technicals, especially editing.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM OF THE YEAR
:( nada

ACHIEVEMENT IN MAKEUP
STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH
^Fabulous makeup on some of the aliens.

ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC WRITTEN FOR MOTION PICTURES
(ORIGINAL SCORE)
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
THE CONSTANT GARDENER
MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA
MUNICH
PRIDE & PREJUDICE
^I want them all to win :(

ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC WRITTEN FOR MOTION PICTURES
(ORIGINAL SONG)

"Travelin' Thru" - TRANSAMERICA

^Dolly Parton looks to have really captured the spirit of Trans with this one. I just love her voice.

BEST MOTION PICTURE OF THE YEAR
MUNICH
^Definitely another case of being the underdog picture. Let's go, Munich. I'd be happy with any win, besides Crash.

ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND EDITING
WAR OF THE WORLDS

ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND MIXING
WALK THE LINE

ACHIEVEMENT IN VISUAL EFFECTS
WAR OF THE WORLDS

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

as much as you liked Charlie, I wouldn't have minded it getting a couple other nominations.

Yeah, I'd love to have seen it get at least a nomination for Art Direction. I thought the movie was so beautiful production-wise.
