Post I'm Now Predicting BAREBACK, Er, I mean, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
To Win BEST PICTURE.. That's right.. For the longest time, I have felt that WALK THE LINE would and should win BEST PICTURE because afterall that is out there, it IS the better film that should win BEST PICTURE, But now comes BAREBACK MOUNTAIN with it's Homosexual Overtones and being the 1st Gay Western and because of how well it's done at the box office so to speak and how much the critics are eating this shi* up, I can't help but to believe that this movie will Win BEST PICTURE for strictly Politically Correct reasons in that how would it be to have the FIRST EVER Gay Western win BEST PICTURE and please the Homosexual Community out there?? To show that Hollywood has come a long way in 25 years by taking a chance and giving the big one to a movie like BAREBACK MOUNTAIN??? Personally, if this does end up winning BEST PICTURE and WALK THE LINE gets snubbed undeservedly, then the Academy can kiss my ass..

Your first choice ( Walk the Line ) might not even be nominated so good job chaning your prediction, even though your argument about why Brokeback will win over a movie such as Walk the Line which might not even be nominated is pretty lame.

It's not lame and it's true.. BAREBACK MOUNTAIN Will win BEST PICTURE not because of the Quality of the movie but because of the film's content, subject matter so to speak in such an overly politically correct world we live in nowadays where the Homosexual Community demands respect and equality, and this movie winning BEST PICTURE would elevate the Academy in a big way and that is why it will win, strictly for these element s alone and just seems like the proper, politically correct thing to do.. WALK THE LINE is STILL the better film and STILL should win BEST PICTURE though, but unfortunately will not happen because of this..

You know?? I've only seen snippets of this movie and the scenes they showed showed both actors in a tight fuc*ing lip lock that caused me to get dry heaves.. I'm not shy about admitting this or give a rat's ass what folks think, but I feel homosexuality is an Abomination and I have no desire to see this butt pirate western of a movie period, but I'm smart enough to know that this movie is the Politically Correct Movie of the Year and a BEST PICTURE Win from this would elevate the Academy members status in the Homo Community sky high and give them a pat on the back for taking a chance and doing something bold like giving it to a movie like this.. This Ladies and Gentlemen are the reasons WHY this movie will win and it sucks royally because of it..

Thank You and you can save the wet underwear unless your a chick.. Also, if this movie simply had the Man/Woman Formula going for it, it would be considered boring and hum-drum like any other Drama, but the fact that it shows 2 Men sucking face makes me want to :puke:

Hey, I´d actually pay you to see the movie. Only if you record yourself watching it and we distribute it on the net afterwards. Gorier than Saw II!

But if BBM does get any Oscars, it won't be to please the gay community. It will be because of the quality of the film. This isn't some porn flick.

Well, we have been handing out Oscars for the past 77 years, so maybe it isn't such a bad idea to give a movie an Oscar for pulling off an unusual feat. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but movies like Walk the Line come out every year and have often cleaned up during award seasons. Brokeback Mountain is something different, and the idea behind it winning outweighs the complacency of the award itself.

I never said it was, but it is the first "gay" movie to ever connect with the mainstream. (films like The Birdcage don't count)

EDIT: forgot about Philadelphia and Angels In America....but still, you can't deny it's once-in-a-blue moon occurance.

If you're discounting comedies, maybe you mean first serious "gay" film to connect?

Although I'm not homophobic, I have to agree with BKB on this one. If this was a film about a female cowboy and a male cowboy falling in love and cheating on their spouses, it would be forgotten about, but because there is a homosexual theme to it, that makes it oscar worthy?

The english patient was about an adulterous relationship.

In Titanic, Rose was with Cal when she met Leo. Therefore she was unfaithful.

And really, if a gay relationship is so much Oscar-baity, why there hasn´t been one even nominated before? Why hasn´t Hollywood been doing romance gay films if, you know, just by being gay they can be Oscar frontrunners?

Have you even seen the film, to know if It´s worthy or not?

I wouldn't say it's about homosexuality as much as it is about the pain of not going after the things you want and letting your dreams fade away because you were afraid of what might happen. In Ennis' case, that dream is Jack.

If our characters were heterosexual, the movie would be a completely different thing plot-wise, thematically, etc. So I'm not sure what you're saying.

I wish people would watch the movie instead of just generalizing the movie.

An Oscar contender because it's moving, inspiring, and a thousand other gerunds.

Wow, well thats almost the simplest way to look at it. Then will have to take away the main plot of the movie out and change the whole freakin movie around, since it couldnt be the same movie if it just was about a man and a woman. Looking at it the way you are is just wrong.
