No Munich for Best Picture, not even on the longlist of 15 films!! Yikes.

No Munich or Match Point for BP, but Speilberg and Allen are in for director, so it's not like they weren't screened. Bad news.

something seems fishy with Munich...

No tech noms at all and Bana didn't even get among the Top 15 actors?

Memoirs of a Geisha made 15 appearances....not bad for a movie with 31% at RT.

Geisha seems to be one of the most awarded films to receive below 40% at RT ever.

Well, technically Geisha really hasn't gotten anything yet. Once the longlists are widdled down to actual nominations, Geisha may be stuck with nothing.

Still, you're right. And the fact that Munich is missing, but Geisha is up there is amazing.

PEACE, Mike.

Yeah, it's weirder than I could've ever imagined. 15 mentions are 2 more than any other movies. They include it for everything, even Ken Watanabe (instead of say Terrence Howard in Crash) and Michelle Yeoh.

See they dont have to actually see the movie to give Spielberg best director, thats just how it goes for a director of his status.

This is compeltely insane, I mean no technical awards at all? Lane being on the actor list yet no Bana? Sickening and thats not only absurd one, just doesnt seem right to me. It is fishy.

I feel very bad for Munich it's the best film of the year and deserves better, especially Eric Bana who should be getting noms left and right. However, MDB made the BAFTA list only in actress, supp actor and adapted screenplay on it's way to receiving zero nominations.I suspect Munich will receive zero nominations as well.

Good to see Batman Begins getting some consideration, at least the BAFTA lot aren't elitist assholes. Good lists overall, though I'm surprised Kiss Kiss Bang Bang couldn't even make a list of fifteen for adapted screenplay

So, what the guilds and now Bafta are saying is that, despite being incredibly well directed, Munich doesn't amount to shit otherwise. Completely fucking nuts. Above all else, if they have really seen the damn movie, it would be in the longlist for cinematography. You simply can't say that you know anything about film and not acknowledge its achievement in that aspect of production.

What the hell is with this backlash?

How did Narnia get a Picture nod but no Screenplay? Those are split into two categories!

Actually Bafta says is that despite having a great screenplay and a good director, the movie sucks, heh.

Yeah, a screenplay on the level of Memoirs of a Geisha and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We'll see if it makes the noms, but I doubt it.

I don't think they saw it either, and if they didn't, how can they nominate Spielberg and the screenplay? It makes no sense to me.

Just like at the beginning Memoirs of a Geisha were receiving some Best Picture noms. Just by guessing.

I think it's quite possible. They nominated Spielberg based on name alone. As for screenplay, since it's separated into original and adapted, there are 30 movies nominated. That's a lot of movies, and it's hard to come up with 15 adapated choices without putting in Munich.

Im suprised to see narnia get some big noms.WTF is up with munich? i dont think they saw it also,IMO it would have been better if they had just left it out alltogether,it just seems disrespectful IMO.Such a shame the best film of the decade is getting fucked in the ass by critics and awards,oh well.
