I'm not too confident in Walk the Line really anymore. Capote and Munich are milllleeees ahead of it in terms of support, WTL on paper isn't doing any better than P&P. But the Ray thing is there, so who knows.

I get a feeling that Scarlett Johansson and Maria Bello might be snubbed once again, just like in 2003..

One of the best actor nominees (Joaquin Phoenix, Russel Crowe, or David Straitharn) Though I guess Crowe wouldn't be all that big of a surprise.

2046 :(

Otherwise, I dunno.
I could pretty easily see any of the following missing out:

Capote
Munich
Walk the Line

Russell Crowe - Cinderella Man
Terrence Howard - Hustle & Flow
Jeff Daniels - The Squid and the Whale

Charlize Theron - North Country
Judi Dench - Mrs. Henderson Presents
Joan Allen - Upside of Anger
Gwyneth Paltrow - Proof
Naomi Watts - King Kong
Vera Farmiga - Down to the Bone

Bob Hoskins - Mrs. Henderson Presents
Don Cheadle - Crash
Terrence Howard - Crash

Frances McDormand - North Country
Scarlett Johannson - Match Point
Laura Linney - The Squid and the Whale
Shirley MacLaine - In Her Shoes
Diane Keaton - The Family Stone

Fernando Meirelles - The Constant Gardener
James Mangold - Walk the Line
Ron Howard - Cinderella Man
Peter Jackson - King Kong
Woody Allen - Match Point

But does that really = snub? Or just over abundance of contenders, and some obviously not getting in?

I guess I would consider, of the above, these to be "snubs":
Allen, Johannson - Match Point
Diane Keaton - Stone
Gwyneth Paltrow - Proof
Naomi Watts - King Kong
Munich
and Ziyi, who will probably miss out but I accidentally deleted above.
