1. Best Picture - This truly seems like a toss-up at this point, thus it is interesting.

2. Best Actress in a Leading Role - Only if Keira Knightley is nominated will I care but that seems fairly likely.

Can't I vote for all the technicals? Always wonder which same Best Picture nominees get nominated over and over in those categories.

But since it's so weak this year... Best Actress. To see the insane picks they'd throw in.

Do you think Knightley is likely to be nominated?

I WANT her to get in... but right now her chances are somewhat slim-to-good.

Reese Witherspoon, Zhang Ziyi, Felicity Huffman, and the rest I have grouped: Keira, Judi Dench, Charlize, Gwyneth, heck, even Claire Danes. Again, it's so weak and open that any of those women could get in.

But Keira deserves to be there.

Reese is a 100% guaranteed lock to be nominated. Ziyi is also likely but I have not seen the film so whether she's deserving is another story. Huffman might be nominated but the film (Transamerica) isn't going to do any business and she already won a Golden Globe for TV and sometimes Hollywood shuns television actors who do good work in a film. Theron and Paltrow I don't see getting nominated since the films ('North Country' and 'Proof') also did poorly at the box office and came out a while ago. Danes' film ('Shopgirl') is good but maybe not quite good enough to get noticed in any category. They may be forgotten. Dench seems likely since she is Hollywood roayalty. Another aspect in Keira's favor is that 'Pride' is going to outgross the aforementioned films. When it comes to Best Actress nominations, there really aren't that many choices and the quality of Keira's performance and the film she's in make me think she is a likely nomination. Plus, 'Pride' is the type of film Hollywood is known for recognizing since it's respectable in every way.

I think both supporting categories look to be a dog fight.

So do I. Supporting Actress is the one I'm most interested in, though.

I agree. I'm curious to see who is going to win that one. Right now, I feel like it's between Giamatti and Clooney... and I donno who has the edge.

Supporting Actress seems like another tight race, too, but I think Rachel Weisz will get the win. Hoping for Michelle Williams, though.

I am starting to wonder if Mr. Clooney will only be going home with his good looks - though I bet you he won't be bothered with that.

At this point, no category is really that interesting because nothing is going to surprise or upset.

So, the one I'm looking most forward to is Best Song because I really don't know which I want to win, and although I'm pretty sure I know which one will win, the category has the biggest chance to surprise me

I hate the Best Actress race this year. It's so dull and everyone knows who's gonna win. :puke:
