Post George Lucas Should Get the Lifetime Achievement Award
Make it so!

His film will be the top grosser this year (probably). It completes the Star Wars cycle. He's brought THX to the masses, he is bringing a digital cinema revolution which is probably the only way to save the theaters. He's extremely well known, and people will tune in to watch this segment.

Star Wars has brought a lot to movies. NOW IS THE TIME.

He deserves something for the impact he's made.

Why not. Many technical advancements in moviemaking go to his credit.

I do agree that he should be acknowledged because he has made a historic and indellible mark on American cinema with just his Star Wars saga, not to mention other impacts he's had on film-making itself.

However, he has expessed desires to move onto other projects and get back to what he was on before Star Wars. I don't know how well he'll follow that statement he made but I don't think it's the right time to award him a life achievement award yet.

By the way has the recipient for the award as well as the host been announced yet?

Which Lifetime Achievement Award are you speaking of? 'Cause he already got AFI's LAA...

Is there a different major LAA?

Yes, the Oscars have their own LAA, Joy. It's not guaranteed to be given every year, but usually is.

Yup, he deserves one. He deserves something from the Academy after being robbed for Star Wars almost three decades ago.

He has a few more decades in him, they should give the lifetime achievement award to someone older.
