Happy for the Aussie who won Best Editing for Tattoo. Now this will be headline news here and any other wins will be brushed over in 5 seconds.

Hmm, does this make the case for Scorsese stronger?

Considering that no movies has won Best Visual Effects against a BP-nomnee in that category since 1970....no.

Great stuff Hugo - even though would have liked Apes to win too.

Still Hugo was just so damn good technically - cinematography, effects, 3D etc. Plus its a brilliant film.

All according to plan. Lure Scorsese into a warm, comfy bath before the French can knife him.

I'm sure Christopher Plummer is flattered to be in the company of...Jonah Hill.

Which win has been more surprising, in your esteemed, glorious opinion?

Editing, obviously. It won against four BP nominees.

If Jonah Hill HAD won, would that have topped the shock of Marissa Tomei?

Nah. Surprising, yes, but NO ONE was not predicting Rise of the Planet of the Apes for Best Visual Effects.

Man, Billy Crystal is just not very funny any more. Bring back Steve Martin. Or Ricky Gervais.
