Right, got all the ones off Oscarwatch uploaded... that is, all that don't seem to be in use. Spread the wealth. Take one, don't worry about uploading it elsewhere... here ya go.

I would find it interesting if Munich won.

It would probably be my fourth choice for winners (behind Brokeback and Crash, very slightly behind Good Night), but I would like to see such a stirring, thought-provoking film like this win. It feels like it's being overshadowed and it's kind of a shame.

noticed this was on tonight

Munich/Universal Pictures
WB Feb 11 08:00pm
Making the movie ``Munich.''

Original Airdate: February 11, 2006.

Interesting early point in this show > Spielberg said he was sold on Bana, who was his #1 choice, from seeing his more human scenes when he watched The Incredible Hulk.

One thing working against it is its gross. It seems this isn't really resonating with the public. It's having a somewhat of a mainstream-cultish response. At this point, it may not even pass Crash before the Oscar telecast.

That is wrong wording...it actually WON'T pass Crash. Or even come close.

well then using that point, how about BBM which isn't burning up the Box Office.

Yeah, but Munich isn't BBM. It's not even going to come close to matching the production budget.

For a movie about gay cowboys that is more than one could ever imagine.

I really really don't understand the point you are trying to make because you most certainly don't mean that BBM's gross is a deterrent to its chances of winning.

 LOL * Cause EVERYTHING you wrote above for Munich, applies for BBM > Reread it > One thing working against it is its gross. It seems this isn't really resonating with the public. * Spielberg has already passed on big hurdle > he got the picture nomination when some people didn't think he would, most were thinking Walk the Line or something else. Nor did he do any promotion for the film.

* Here's hoping that over the last 2 months > THE OSCAR VOTERS THE ONLY ONES THAT MATTER AND NOT THE PUBLIC continue what they did already once, voting Munich a nomination, do it again by voting for the best film > Munich.

BBM $14M budget - more than $80M gross
Munich $70M budget - barely $50M gross

BBM is also the higuest grossing movie among all the nominated for BP films. Munich is also the only BP film who hasn´t made its budget back domestic. Regardless of quality - I love Munich - its box-office results plat against it in the race, as money plays a part on Oscars. If you want, we can debate how big that part is - or should be.

but are the Oscar voters looking at that difference or are they just looking at the gross. How well do they know those numbers.

and isn't BBM at about 66, not 80. and when does / did voting end?

Is 66 impressive to the Oscar voters.

Neither is particular impressive to me.

Well, everything is in the context of course.

What were you predicting for Brokeback Mountain before it was released? Find it and tell me if its current gross (on its way to $80m+) doesn't far surpass it and thus qualify as impressive. Maybe do the same for Munich!

Munich, on the other hand, was the one movie most buzzed throughout the year, or at least throughout the second half of the year in terms of Oscar before it was released. As in, everyone was waiting for it before the awards and such came in. There were high expectations. IT won't even reach $50m by the end of its run which, I think, is quite disappointing and not just underwhelming.

If they're gonna go with the movie that will make the most people happy and want to be politically correct as they always try to be... they'll go with Crash or BBM. At first I thought the public vote would go for Munich, but now it's looking less and less likely.

I still think Munich is a large threat to BBM, especially with its new campaign. I ALWAYS thought it would be nominated for Best Picture and it damn well deserves to be. My wavering was between Capote or WTL. I had few doubts about Munich. And that's why I think it's the only one that can really take BBM down. But, at this point in the race, I'm feeling more comfortable that BBM will walk away with the big prize. Munich has won so little that I don't think the Academy would want to upset with that kind of a win and if it were an upset, they'd rather it go to Crash.

5 times your budget is definitely more impressive than not even covering it, don´t you think?

And... what Rafiki said. ;)

don't have time to write more.......

but first question, how did Munich then even get a Oscar nomination with such bad BO numbers.

Right now, I think it is a new ballgame.

............more to come later.

Okay. I don't think ANY of the movies in this year's Best Picture line up got in because of their grosses. Let's put that aside ;)
It's pretty obvious, more than other years, it's the content that got these films nominated and considering what was left in the Oscar game by the end of the year, these were probably the best line up we could ask for.

Some possible DVD cover artwork has been floating around and I decided to make some new av's out of them. So if you're late to the club, help yourself to one  .

I watched it again last night.

It's just a staggering film. It had kind of dropped off my radar because I saw it for the first time awhile back, but good god... this film is just brilliant.

I'm part of the cult, now.

But the Brick avatar is coming back after the Oscars!

I would be so excited if Munich won best pic. I don't think it will, but I have hopes it'll at least win out here, so everyone vote for it, and it will be a minor appeasement when Munich walks off empty-handed from the Oscars this year. :-(
