Completed ballots must be at PricewaterhouseCoopers by 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Ballots received after the deadline will not be counted.

Nominations for the 78th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at 5:30 a.m. PST, in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

will the GG wins / loses have any effect on the Oscar nominations???

Last nights debate was um, very lively.

I'm working on the transcript. No promises as to when/if it will be posted. Lots of editing is required.

I'm scheduling the next roundtable for Monday the 23rd at 9 PM EST.

There are some technical issues with the IRC chat, so instead we will be using AIM.

Good idea. That chat was insane to copy. (Course, I'm sure there's a better way, but I couldn't find it).

What new info will be out by then?

Next one after the 31st then?

Hmmm... I had no idea you guys had a chat debate going on already.

As for the 23rd... I'll probably be like a half hour late but am home that night

text chat is so last decade's technology. Why don't you guys use http://www.ventrilo.com/index.php instead? Sure it will mean no transcript but frankly I think the conversation is mostly only of interest to those taking part in it and this will help you do it better.

Well, for one....I don't have a mic. (I'm assuming thats a voice chat program?)

For two, the point is that it's not SUPPOSED to be only for those who participate...it's supposed to be posted on the OScar coverage in hopes of being read by more than just, yknow, us.

which leads me to for three...you can't edit that (easily.) Some of the stuff typed at the chat isn't exactly, yknow, presentable.

(also, i've listened to people i only knew in text before, and quite frankly...it can be really weird. so i'm not sure i'd really wanna go through that with 7 people at once. :O )

Yeah the problem with a chat is it has to be moderated, if one person gets off track or is in a funky mood it throws the whole thing off track.

I probably won't participate in future ones.

I dunno. I just ... don't like having my words and opinions printed :(

loyal, I'd be up for a roundtable, but I would suggest that you just handpick a panel of 6 or so instead of it being a free for all type of discussion. That'll save the headaches of a confused atmosphere and it'll also look better for the site if it is conducted by specific members instead of general admission.

Invites, let me guess who the 6 will be????? Just a good ole boy party I would think.

I won't be around tonight unfortunately. Someone can either moderate in my absence or we can move it to tomorrow night.

I'm fine with either one.

I am fine either way too (and not too anxious about moderating), but we need to decide soon since I wanna know whether I gotta wait or go sleep.

I'd "moderate" it for ya, (as in make sure you get a copy of the transcript to edit), but I'm already procrastinating like whoa on this stupid work. I don't want the distractions. :o

well hopefully the higher ups will announce who has been invited, provide a copy of the talk ( which was promised last time but not produced? ) > which maybe will allow people to note who they liked and didn't like on this panel, etc.

************************

and since this is by invitation, hopefully those invited will be up to it or is this going to be just a favored user stroke fest???

Goldie, perhaps you need to take a break from the forums for a while.

I haven't a clue. I've gotten the strong impression that he doesn't like this site very much, doesn't like how its ran and moderated, and perhaps it time for he and WoKJ to part ways.

why, just trying to get information or bring up things that might have been missed and I am not sure why you don't think that this is a fair request to ask who are the invitees to this event..I AM STILL WONDERING IF MAYBE I AM AN INVITEE SO I CAN MAKE TIME... anyway, there doesn't seem to be any need for secerts.... or why the past transcrits were never released...... I know a couple of people in the chat even said, that they had to sign off early and would come back and reread it later

seems like pretty fair requests? or are there reasons not to disclose.
