I suppose I also should add that half of the ending was spoiled to me beforehand.

Rhys Meyers has sex with Heath Ledger?

AND with Matt Dillon.

Does Thandie Newton cry? If so I'm ready to put this as my #1 Oscar contendor.

No, she wasn't available. Matthew Fox was the crying double.

Right now, it still seems to be a contender for Director, Supporting Actress and Original Screenplay, even with the WGA, SAG and DGA snubs

The last movie Woody Allen got a WGA nomination is for Mighty Aphrodite 10 years ago. Deconstructing Harry (ew) got an Oscar nomination despite being snubbed by the WGA and being a rather mediocre effort.

For sure one of the DGA or WGA nominated films will not make it on the OScar shortlist and Woody still has a slight chance. I t would be a shame if they wouldn't honor a movie that most has regarded as his return to form.

You know, it still remains a fact that every single time Allen got a nom at the Globes, he got one at the Oscars as well (for Director), so...

Hehe, of the 6 films Woody Allen got a Best Director nomination, 4 of them aren't best picture nominees.

They love him more as a loner. LOL

If one (or 2!!!) of the DGA directors disappears, Allen, along with Cronenberg or possibly Meirelles can sneak in. It would awesome if Allen and Cronenberg both get nominated.

I'll be honest, though...I don't think Allen deserves it this year. Match Point was good, but directing wasn't exceptional. Now the screenplay was definitely one of the year's best and deserves a nod. Cronenberg, however, is more deserving of a BD nod than Allen.

Still a very impressive COTC at RT. I think its best chance, as of now, is a Best Screenplay nom with Allen fighting for the 5th director slot.
