I never thought I'd ever see Flags as low as 50% on RT (4 fresh, 4 rotten on RT right now). I thought Poland's review would be a fluke, since it was overly negative, but now 3 more rotten are in too.

PEACE, Mike.

BTW, guys, doesn't it somehow piss you off as well that The Queen was given Rotten by BBC? Heh I mean how incredible would it have been for it to still stand at 100%?!

That would make it #2 on RT's all time list (Behind Toy Story 2), so yeah, it kinda pisses me off.

Oh, and the film has temporarily given up its #1 of 2006 spot to Deliver Us from Evil, which is at 100% with 24 reviews. I wonder how far that'll get, and if it can get the extra 2 needed to break the Top 100.

Woooow at the 100% for Deliver us From Evil (now up to 25 reviews with an 8.2 average, 8.3 CotC). With Lions Gate releasing and distributing it, I think it has a great shot at Best Documentary, and an honest shot at winning.

If it can get onto the short list (Lions Gate's Grizzly Man was considered by most a lock, until it was snubbed from the list), it should easily get in, but I doubt the topic will be very easy for voters to swallow. Besides, An Inconvenient Truth is a near-lock for a win.

It'll be interesting to see how the film does in the next few months, it's definitely not going to be an easy sell, but The Queen and The Departed have both just shown how much spectactular reviews like these can help. Still, I'll admit that An Inconvienient Truth winning Best Doc is about the most surefire win that the Oscars have thusfar this year.

The reviews can help, yes, but as I said, it is comparable to Grizzly Man (Which is 100% in COTC with an 8.3 and shares an 87 Metacritic score). Of course, the topic of the film should give it plenty of "impotrance" points.

I'm really glad about the reviews though. I've been very interested in it since I saw the trailer earlier this month.

Bobby received it's 2nd bad review, curtesy of...Slant.

Flags is 5 positive - 4 negative

Infamous continues to hold it's own, and Sandra Bullock, who uglies herself up a bit, is definitely a contender for a nomination, especially considering how important she was in Crash's victory last year, with nothing to show for it.

Marie Antoinette continues to look pretty strong. Not exactly BP strong, but Kirsten is definitely in the mix of potential Best Actress nominees.

The Queen isn't allowed to receive any bad reviews, obviously.

Half Nelson continues to be under EVERYONE'S radar.

Newsweek raves about Flags.

As I watch A Night To Remember right now on TV, it really makes me wonder who came up with that nonsense that the academy doesn't award remakes, re-imaginings, adaptions of previous films, etc... Titanic is never referred to as a remake.

I had Gosling in my predictions for a little bit, until it became obvious the film isn't making much more than $3M. However, id ThinkFilm truly makes it a priority to campaign him, and the critics try pushing him hard ala Amy Adams last year, I'll put him back in. It's obviously a performnce that captivates anyone and everyone one that sees it.

And considering Infamous will barely pass $1 million total, I think Bullock will have to wait a wee bit longer to get recognized by the academy.

Mighty fine grades from the two most important and influential sources. It'll be interesting to see how they reflect the consensus. I've linked the page to the main chart.

I see nothing for Infamous. Not only is it Capote-handicapped, it did fail miserably at the box-office now.

Updated.

The Departed now has the most fresh reviews on the chart.

Last King's rating at MC went down to 74 after 4 new reviews filtered in.

Mav - it may be time to start tracking Stranger than Fiction

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/stranger_than_fiction/

One of its rottens is from Slant - so its still got a decent shot.

Watched Infamous today.

What an interesting, well-made little film.

It's the B side to Capote for sure.

Will also be seeing a rave from LA Daily News for Flags

http://www.insidesocal.com/reeldeal/200 ... flags.html

Yeah, it looks like I was a little premature to be worried. Im thinking it'll have a good shot at 80%+ on RT again. It's Metacritic will most likely be very high aswell.

FOOF got another bad review, from Coming Soon.

I'm beginning to think that we're going to be a large divide between the overall score and COTC. Like, 65/85 or 70/90.

In prediction news, Kris has made a bunch of changes:

-he moved The Queen into his BP predictions and is now predicting it for 8 nominations, including Supporting Actor (Sheen)
-put The Departed in his Top 10 (Appearently he missed its declared lock status here)
-has Cruz in Actress and has tossed Bening after much pimping
-has FOOF on the verge of leaving his predictions, ranked at #5 in Picture and Director and missing from Adapted Screenplay

I'm beginning to like his predictions. :D

RS gives Flags 3.5 stars
http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/mov ... ur_fathers

It does sound like a 4 star rave though.

Time raves http://www.time.com/time/magazine/artic ... 32,00.html

Metacritic counted it as a 100, now it has 5 reviews up, with a 93 average.

The coming soon review doesn't surprise me with the way he's been kissing David Poland's ass. He made it priority #1 to go to Poland's blog to support him and declare "it sucked" as soon as he saw it.

I can't recall ever seeing this kind of divide. The major/important critics have been raving, yet the bloggers and unimportant critics are very critical. Who's right?
