Hmm.. it needs the box-office, and right now things don't look very good..

I still think that Chiken Little will be the main obstacle to Tim Burton (if it gets good reviews, of course)..

Chicken Little gets my vote after Corpse Bride. Unless it's shit, of course. But hopefully it can hold a candle to Mark Dindal's last animation effort (The Emperor's New Groove). I don't know why, but I've never really liked Wallace and Gromit...

My gut tells me Aardman's walking away with it though. If it gets a rotten tomatoes score below 90%, I'll be very surprised.

Yeah I'm thinking

Chicken Little
The Corpse Bride
Madagascar

And I don't really know any more which one of those could win.

I don't see W&G getting snubbed, not with an over 90% RT and over 8.0 average, which I expect it to finish. I also think people are underestimating its potential legs at the box office, but that's another matter. Chicken Run earned $100M basically on its cuteness and strong WOM alone.

chicken Run had much more of a take-the-whole-family vibe to it. Plus wasn't i t released in the summer?
And they did advertise it with Mel Gibson as one of the voices and that was when he was still a big hllywood megastar.

I'm not saying Wallace and Gromit is not family-friendly. It just, to me, seems more of a cult kind of flick rather than the widely crowd-pleasing Chicken Run. Then again, I could be putting more of my feelings towards the movie into my argument (I dont have any interest in seeing it really and dont understand how $100m worth of people would). Plus, I'm always wrong about animatd movies... ;)

Goodness, I hope not.

Even Shark Tale was better.

The Corpse Bride was visually arresting but hollow in terms of storytelling. It's a wash IMO.

With its 96%-97% RT score, W&G looks to have it in the bag.

I'm sure anyone who has seen Wallace and Gromit will concur....it's the winner. A KO, no less.
Keep in mind the last two W&G shorts were both winners as well.

Better luck next time, Tim. You made a damn good movie.

Going with consensus as well as the overwhelming critical response....

Nominees are...

Chicken Little
Corpse Bride
Wallace and Gromit

Winner: Wallace and Gromit

I agree. Anything anyone else says at this point is wishful (or perhaps hateful) thinking.

I'd just like to point out that Shrek beat Monsters Inc.

Shrek received as much critic support as Monster's Inc. It was even considered a BP dark horse late in the game. At this point, none of the eligible films that have been released can challenge W&G. The only way I can see it lose is if Chicken Little becomes a large scale critic hit (>80% at RT) in addition to the box office success. W&G also won't do too shabby in term of box office, as I think it can hold up very well throughout October and still make a run at $100M.

Shrek was better than Monsters Inc. Im not going to be to happy if some CGI turd beats W&G this year. Madagascar being the lead turd.

Yeah, I'm thinkin' the candidates will be:

Chicken Little
Corpse Bride
Wallace & Gromit

And as much as I really want Corpse Bride to win, and as much as I think it *should*, Wallace & Gromit will probably take the statue.

I think if anything challenges W&G its the 500 mil+ WW Madagascar, on simply merit of success and acceptance from the audience.

Corpse Bride or Chicken Little will be bumped for Madagascar. Probably Chicken because Chicken + Wallace makes it 2 Disney films.

Corpse Bride shouldn't win. It should be nominated for Art Direction and win there, not for animated film.

Wallace is Dreamworks, not Disney.

I sincerely doubt Madagascar will be nominated. If it does, it'll be in place of The Corpse Bride... much as it pains me to say it.

Unless Chicken Little flops and/or is shit, that is.

Dude, Chicken Little looks like shit. Like worst movie of the year easy. I bet it gets 50% or less on RT. Jesus, if it was as bad as the trailer, we'd be looking at less then 20%. As is, Wallace and Gromit and Corpse Bride are locks for the nominations... I still reallly want the last spot to go to Howling Castle... but ah well, Disney and it's evil heartless corporation will win and it'll take that third spot.

I agree. And don't forget, the reason the third W&G short didn't win is because it lost to "Creature Comforts" -- another Nick Park film.

And the reason Chicken Run didn't win Best Animated Feature Film? The category did not exist at the time.
