I would have liked Spacey to win. Just because it's Spacey.

So...Firth and TSN for the rest? Or would that be too "normal" for the Globes?

Re: Golden Globes Live Ceremony Thread
Well, The Social Network cleared the last possible hurdle and is now smooth sailing to the end. Original screenplay and supporting actress are the only suspense now. Imagine TSN will take Editing as well. Inception for sounds and visual effects. King's Speech for Costume and Art Direction, although Inception could have a say on the latter. Cinematography and score could still be a struggle.

Re: Golden Globes Live Ceremony Thread
Hmm, after BFCA and the Globes, The Social Network is the clear favorite for Score now. The only thing in its way is that Desplat is becoming overdue now.
The Social Network could just neatly win five awards (Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Editing, Score) and thus, afterall, become the film with the most wins during the Oscar night.
Inception could still tie it, though...if it takes Screenplay, Art Direction, Visual Effects and both Sound awards.
Oh and there's still Cinematography...hmm.

And looks like TSN team's main objective now is to make Zuckerberg a good guy in the public.

 Re: The Golden Globes Winners
I could see TSN, TKS, and Inception combined for 14-15 awards. Not as much spread-around (The Departed and NCFOM years) or total domination by one (Slumdog) as we have seen in recent times.

Wow, I don't think I ever saw a more shocked audience reaction during an awards show than when Ricky Gervais held his monologue

Yes, but many (incorrectly) perceived that they did. Heard him comment that the only thing that they got right was the tee shirts that he wore in the movie.

So not even Globes didn't manage to make a single crazy pick. TSN all the way it seems. If it lost the Oscar it would be the biggest shock EVER!

 Re: The Golden Globes Winners
Ricky Gervais should host every major awards show. Don't worry, Queen Latifah. You can keep the People's Choice Awards.
I can't believe anyone, celebrity or otherwise, would be upset with Gervais. He's what awards shows need. I can only listen to Billy Crystal call Jack Nicholson an old womanizer, or Alec Baldwin insinuate George Clooney is a dick for so long. If I wanted safe, I'd wear a condom. I want the host to make me laugh. Musical numbers and polite teasing isn't fun for the audience at home. Musical numbers and polite teasing are self-serving pats on the back for the Hollywood club.
And besides, it's not like he went after Michael Douglas or anything. He told Depp and Jolie their film sucked, called Hugh Hefner old, called Tom Cruise gay, called Robert Downey Jr. a former drug addict and called Bruce Willis "Ashton Kutcher's dad". I'm sure none of the attacked are going to wake up today feeling like their lives are meaningless, thanks to Gervais. Any celebrity offended should quit now. It's all in good fun. If you can't sit in a room of peers simultaneously jerking each other off with praise and awards and take some ribbing, go get a real job.

So an awards night without Libs? Is she still here or did she leave the site with Maverick?

Atleast he was good in conviction. Yeah, but in Righteous Kill Pacino was god awful, and in 88 minutes. He's only not a laughing stock in TV movies now, and he looks ridiculous with his spray tans and black hair. His last good movie was Insomnia. DeNiro at least chose to do comedies. And he has shown he still can act if he wants too.

Picture Director Actor Original Screenplay Adapted Screenplay Editing Cinematography Score Sound Mixing Sound Editing Visual Effects Art Direction Costume Design The other three acting awards are almost certainly not going to any of the three. None of them will probably be nominated for Makeup either and same goes for Song. Anything I forgot?

 Re: The Golden Globes Winners
Yeah, that sounds right; there are some overlaps between them. And it's highly likely the 3 films will get those 13. True Grit may take a sound, and score is always wacky, but I think the 3 will get all of them.

 Re: The Golden Globes Winners
True Grit is also a very strong candidate for Cinematography. It'll be Deakins' ninth (!) nomination. And no wins to date.
