 Re: BAFTA Winners
You are also in a denial camp, heh. You just really really really want Slumdog to fall on its face at least in some small way, heh.

 Re: BAFTA Winners
I find it funny there's a better chance of Slumdog winning 10 Oscars (Best Song tie?) than there is of it losing BP, at this point

 Re: BAFTA Winners
No small way, a big way.
But back to the point, all this talk about sweeps is nonsense. That's the denial camp if there ever was one. Very very very very very very few films win an award for every category they're nominated in, or lose in sole category.
You're talking ROTK, Ben-Hur, Titanic, West Side Story, The Last Emperor, Gigi, Bridge on the River Kwai, and The Best Years Of Our Lives.
And that's it.

 Re: BAFTA Winners
If I'm feeling generous, you can toss in An American in Paris, and A Man for All Seasons, both 6/8. Silence of the Lambs was 5/7. If you're looking at the low register of nominations, The Departed was 4/5, as was Annie Hall.

And that's it. Well Slumdog is just about the most dominant precursor film ever. Would it really be surprising at this point.

Considering Gigi made it (despite being mediocre)...why not Slumdog?

Dr. Lecter wrote: Well, the year is weak, that's the thing. A strong case can be made for 5 awards. Maybe 6. Anything beyond that seems to start stretching the imagination. Sound, Sound Editing, Score, and Song. Titanic did it (with the Dramatic/Comedy Score split back then). Those 4 categories don't play in the same sandbox.
