 Re: 2008 Top 10 Lists
BK wrote: Quit the sarcasm. You don't go on an off-tangent when you name best 10. He's not telling you anything, I mean he has 26 films on the list. It's like giving 10 Miss Worlds or something because the judges can't decide who they like best. *shrug* He's saying these 26 films are worth checking out in comparison to everything else that came out this year. Using your example (Miss Worlds), critics are cheating by even listing a top ten. They should all just stick to one film! (There can only be one winner, after all.)

Speed Racer? Hmm... there have been a couple mention of IM and not TDK. That's kind of odd.

Does it matter? Lists like this are largely arbitrary anyway. Anyways, glad to see My Winnipeg picking up some mentions.

Iron Man > TDK ? Seems weird. I mean, you'd think at least both would get in.

^ Something against the others? Well, it doesn't really matter for me since I won't manage to see all the Oscar contenders by year's end to have a proper list.

 Re: 2008 Top 10 Lists
Just because I enjoy certain mainstream (there goes that word again!) films doesn't mean I should be barred from voting for a top 10 or looked down upon. It's not like I'm going to put The Day the Earth Stood Still in my top 10 (my 'A' grades of the year so far are Slumdog, TDK and WALL-E).
Makeshift was probably kidding but I still thought that comment was kind of messed up.

Makeshift was probably kidding but I still thought that comment was kind of messed up. Ah jeez. You don't have trouble riffing on me or Bradley or whoever when we don't like films you do (or vice versa), but you take offense at makeshift's clear form of sarcasm (which didn't even reference you, directly or not!)? You need to learn to take as much as you give.

It read to me more as a "joke" with an undercurrent of truth behind it.

 Re: 2008 Top 10 Lists
I think it was more alcohol-fueled anger passing itself off as truth with a glossy sheen of sarcasm.
Anyways, not meant to be taken seriously.
I think we all need to learn to take as much as we give, myself included. There's far too much negativity floating around the board these days. We need to lighten up!
