Says you.

 If you think that the academy has such poor taste, then don't pay any attention to their awards, just like (I hope :P) you wouldn't really pay much attention to the MTV awards.

A Beautiful Mind and Shakespeare's wins an't really be compared though, IMO. Anything would have been a better choice than Mind. Personally I think Moulin Rouge deserved it by a long shot. IT's what great, groundbreaking film making is all about. (And Peter Jackson thought so too  )

But that, In the BEdroom would have been better choices too. I won't discuss gosford Park hehe. See, actually I will. I didn't like the movie. At all. But at least I can understand why some people might have appreciation for the film.

Recently I pay attention to the awards for other reasons than earlier. I just want to see what careers are being boosted by them in what ways. As for the quality, I mostly gave up on the Academy a while ago. Sure they make lots of good picks too, but the bad ones sometimes make the good ones seem like coincidences. And don't tell me you weren't mad when Moulin Rouge lost to ABM! ;)

Also, for ABM's year, there are other great pictures that weren't even nominated such as Memento. From all angles, ABM is one of the worst winners ever in oscar history, but it's probably also one of the most oscar-baity films ever.

I wouldn't say that. That award goes to Braveheart or Chicago for me.
