Hmm, even the name of the person nominated for Sound Editing, Wylie Stateman, doesn't help as imdb.com lists him as working on neither Geisha nor Narnia. I'm so confused.

MCN isn't doing any thinking either. They were just copying and left their full list with Memoirs in it but by film tally with Narnia.
And BOG is using the full list too. Crazy.
EDIT: IMDb has Memoirs in Sound Editing as well. Really confused.

Since we are on the streak of "when was the last time" questions, here is another one:
When was the last time we had no repeat nominee in all acting categories?
Answer: 1997, nobody nominated that year was nominated in 1996.
14 out of the 20 acting nominees this year are first-timers.
Also when was the last time a best picture nominee got zero GG nom?

It's a smaller award, but how the hell did Narnia pull out a Visual FX nomination over Revenge of the Sith? That's bullshit.

Well, Narnia gained ALOT of general buzz in the last stage of the nominations race because of its box-office.
And I haven't seen it, but it looks as if the FX are truly well integrated into the movie while for Sith, it's the actual footage and actors that are well integrated into the Visual fx

In 1998 (1999 awards) I know Life is Beautiful and Thin Red Line got zero globe noms. Don't know if they're the most recent.

BBM with 8 noms. Isn't 8 nominations pretty low for the film with the most Oscar noms?
It does seem low, but you can't expect much more for a slate of small human dramas. RotK only had three more noms than BBM, including all 4 million tech noms. From a prestige standpoint, BBM did better than RotK.
The BP nominations are lining up to spread the love while still giving BBM Best Picture. Capote is nommed for BP, but they'll award it with Actor, snubbing BBM. GNAGL is up, but Clooney will get original screenplay, where BBM isn't qualified. Crash is up, but it got the SAG, where BBM was snubbed. Munich is up, but it can get Editing, where BBM was snubbed.
Ang Lee can probably get Director outright, without help from trends and consolation prizes, but he's due one for Crouching Tiger anyway.
And c'mon, don't the LotR techs have enough awards already?

I have seen Narnia and most of the FX look like the kids were blue-screened into Shrek. Worst blue-screen compositing since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Check. CGI Wolves that make The Day After Tomorrow's ILM team chuckle? Check.
Narnia has no place being nominated for that award.
