The Academy has DVD screeners of Transamerica so if the people who want to vote for Huffman want to see the movie then they can pop it into their DVD player. There hasn't been overwhelming demand on the part of America to see Transamerica, so it would just be spinning wheels. Hmmm. Interesting. I guess, does everyone here think "buzz" makes any difference then? That voters will watch a dvd they get if there is alot of general public enthusiasm for it? Or if even someone that watches all of them, is (s)he influenced by general population support? As to no one showing interest, the pta has been expectionally high, and I do believe it could have at least had a Capote 250 theatre max expansion run. But that arguement only works for anyone who has a feeling general and "critical" reception effect voters' selections. And I see your point (I think back on Annette Benning) that it may not.

Yeah, I don't get that either. It would be a tough time walking around if I decided not to like a certain actor, performer, or a family member becasue they were conservative or their values didn't completely agree with my own. If you go to Google and type "Reese Witherspoon Conservative" or "Reese Witherspoon Republican" you don't get a lot of results so it's not like she's out there trying to sway people or use her Hollywood clout to "change" people.
I mean, I hate everybody the same, so I guess I mean "I would have a tough time hating them *more*".

Maybe, but it's not like Felicity Huffman is the only one who won a Golden Globe the other night. Frankly, the newspapers are too busy talking about how they screwed up Reese Witherspoon's Golden Globe dress than talking about Huffman's win. All the pictures you see of actors are of Jaoquin and Reese. Quote: That voters will watch a dvd they get if there is alot of general public enthusiasm for it? Yeah, but they'll also probably re-watch Walk the Line too. Quote: Or if even someone that watches all of them, is (s)he influenced by general population support? All of these senarios are likely true. Also, don't downplay how important it is to be established Hollywood. These folks are getting nominated/voted on by their peers, people that have worked with them, are familiar with them, and are maybe friends with them. Quote: As to no one showing interest, the pta has been expectionally high, and I do believe it could have at least had a Capote 250 theatre max expansion run. PTA means nothing really, in the end Transamerica will only have made *maybe* a couple million dollars. vs. the only Best Picture nominee to make close to $100 million by Oscar night Quote: But that arguement only works for anyone who has a feeling general and "critical" reception effect voters' selections. If we are going by critical reception than Witherspoon as equally if not more powerful critical nominee than Huffman (depending on how you look at it).
Huffman has:
Dallas
Golden Globes
NBR
Satellite
Southeastern
Tribeca
Witherspoon has:
Boston Film Critics
Golden Globes
NSFC
New York Film Critics
Online Film Critics
People's Choice
San Francisco Film Critics

Hate is so much easier and satisfying than love.

seeing about 10 minutes of this today while waiting for another movie > I think Reese deserves this.
It was only a small scene where they are in a hotel room and she was turning him out as he was hitting on her > she was very good in this movie and I think deserves this.
