Just some opinions from other people regarding Lawrence's distasteful comments: Quote: The more I see Jennifer Lawrence, the more I can’t stand this girl. She’s extremely arrogant and thinks she’s the best thing since sliced bread. She was AWFUL on SNL. I don’t find her pretty, witty, or the least bit humble. I think she needs to take some pointers from seasoned actresses and learn how to be mature and gracious. Quote: For her to diss her competitors, especially Emanuelle Riva, was arrogant and ignorant. Smarmy is the word for her.

I think Javier Bardem should go to prison for killing people in 'No Country for Old Men'.

The fact that you're actually personally bashing her for performing a monologue on a comedy show is the most ridiculous thing you've uttered on this forum to date, and is of course only happening because you hate her to begin with. It was a joke that was written for her to say. All I've seen Lawrence do otherwise in interviews is praise the other nominees in her category You've found ways to criticize her appearance, you've found ways to say you hope her movie bombs and that you hate it (even though you haven't seen it), THEN you kept claiming she had no chance of winning an Oscar because she's too young and stars in a franchise (or something), and now you're pulling this charade acting like the Academy is going to follow suit and suddenly start hating Lawrence. Get real and realize your opinions are skewed way out of whack. Why do all these insane people emerge out of the woodwork on this forum, one at a time? We finally are rid of Joe and now we have you.

Actually... she stars in TWO franchises. That's how amazing she is.

Re: Best Actress: who -should- win?
Wow, this is one of the stupidest arguments I have ever seen on here, so I'm going to try to explain this easily... 1) You do know that Jennifer gave each of her co-nominees praise after each "diss," right? Oh you didn't know that? Oh you didn't watch it? And you're complaining about it? I'm shocked. 2) In every interview she has done recently (including Letterman, where she also showed a picture of her being fat, a certain stupid member here posted) she has nothing but praise and respect for everyone nominated. She gushes about all of them and the fact that she's nominated doesn't even really phase her. You can tell her is excited and that she genuinely is a sweet, caring girl who loves film. This isn't going to hurt her Oscar chances and when she wins, I hope some members will go so crazy and leave here. #endrant

Algren wrote: Quote: Lawrence quipped, "Jessica Chastain... in Zero Dark Thirty, you caught bin Laden, so what; in Winter's Bone, I caught a squirrel and then I ate it...! Naomi Watts, you know what else is impossible - you beating me on Oscar night."
She then turned on nine-year-old Wallis, adding, "You think you can beat me? What are you talking about, Wallis? Also, the alphabet called; they want their letters back," and concluded by stating Riva is "an 85-year-old French lady, yeah I think I can take you. You know what I say about your Oscar chances, Emmanuelle? Emmanuel Riva-derci!"
What a fucking arrogant, bitch. She doesn't deserve it now, and I hope that the Academy are looking at this and can see that she's nothing but a trollop. Jessica Chastain, however, is graceful as ever. A true Hollywood leading lady. It was harmless and funny. She praised the other actresses and their performances on David Letterman. I love Watts and Chastain but you don't hear me complaining about it. Because I understand it's just a joke . It's obvious she doesn't really think this.

Re: Best Actress: who -should- win?
I know she praised her opponents on the show too. So we can add cowardly to her list of attributes. If you're going to insult your competitors, at least do it with some conviction.
Being that it is a comedy show is the perfect foil to claim that she doesn't really think like this, when in fact, she does. Stupid arrogant, fat bitch.

You seem disproportionally embittered over her as if she has killed your dog, burned your parents alive and then ducttaped a 12-inch dildo in your butt. :-/

Re: Best Actress: who -should- win?
I do think Chastain gave the best performance among this group, and she really carried the film, while SLP is more about the ensemble where everybody contributed.

I'm still feeling a win from Lawrence. I hope SLP keeps up the momentum.

Re: Best Actress: who -should- win?
I was just amused by the fact he went through every other thread switching to a Silver Linings Playbook choice, including even Jacki Weaver. Except this one.
I am rooting for Jessica Chastain myself.
