If the film is as emotionally intense as I've heard, could this actually receive acting nominations? Picture nominations are rare for sci-fi, but acting nominations are almost non-existent. There's Alec Guinness, and who else? Even Malcolm McDowell wasn't nominated for A Clockwork Orange.
Leo will win some time this decade, and if the film is Best Picture material, he's in the running, certainly. But Sharlto Copley, Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law, Clive Owen, Michael Caine and Jeff Goldblum were all snubbed for their appropriately quality, showy or draining work, even though all of the films in question (AI, District 9, The Fly, Children Of Men) were recognized by the Academy in some way.
I don't know. I think it would need a realistic shot at winning to secure acting nominations.

And in the end, 'Crash' wins.

I don't think it will get nominated for score with that dark, brooding and ultimately uninspired piece of crap that I heard from those samples. Why is such an unimaginative score used for a film that is supposed to be completely the opposite?
But it should get nominated for lots of other things.

TDK would have been nominated if it wasn't for the rule that only allows one composer.
TDK was ruled eligible afterall. It just wasn't nominated.

100 at MC after 4 reviews counted and 100% at RT with a 9.2 average.

That did not work for 'The Last Airbender'.

I'm not convinced from the reviews Leo will be nominated. I HOPE he is, though.

I think at the very least the film should pull a BU and win Editing and both the sound awards. Cinematography, F/X, and Original Screenplay are other categories where I think it has a legit shot at winning.
Everything else though should just be a nomination though with no chance of winning.
I seriously doubt there will be better direction in a film all year. The ambiguity of this film makes it an instant classic IMHO and I think it will end up along the lines of Blade Runner decades later. The discussion surrounding this thing has been very interesting. The time is now to give Nolan Best Director. Don't dick around and give it to him for a lesser effort 20 years after the fact (cough...Scorsese...cough).

I don't see this winning anything, actually, although it'll surely get a few nominations. If this is a dud of a year, it may open some doors.
FX is going to be won by Tron, and editing will most likely be won by the Best Picture winner. There's a couple of promising Original screenplays being released (TTOL). The sound mixing was actually pretty poor at some points. Sound editing is its best shot as I see it right now.
