Oddly enough, Daldry lost that year for The Hours to Polanski

We all know it was actually Marty who lost to Polanski, heh.

It's funny...but Daldry, despite his three noms, still feels so low profile to me each time he is nominated. I think that in each year that he was nominated, he was/will be probably the one with the least votes of the five.

Can't imagine him getting more votes than Fincher, Howard, Boyle and Van Sant this year.

In 2002, I'm sure that Marshall, Scorsese and even Almodovar (who won for Best Screenplay) had more votes than him.

And I think we can all be certain that Ridley Scott and Ang Lee had more votes than him in 2000.

He has never even been close to winning this.

And yet he keeps getting in. And The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay his next film, seems like one "comic book" movie destined for a Best Picture nom.
