NBR wasn't kind to Lord of the Rings, I don't expect Kong to show up there.

Well, I don't either. But if it does, the universe is officially falling apart.

Going with the idea that the universe has been falling apart all year in the movie business, then Kong is a virtual lock for #1 spot on NBR.

Yes. A while back I thought it impossible for this to slip into BP. Now it seems a lock, though I'd venture as far as to say it won't win regardless of how much love it gets. Quote: 5. King Kong, which is now a major player, could be one of the best reviewed films of the year, and could even, in fact, get Jackson nominated for director for a 3rd time in 5 years. Fourth time, no? I thought he got it for all three LotR plus Kong. Unless he was passed over in TTT? And this was also a surprise to me. Kong is really proving me wrong as far as critical reception and awards of major blockbusters. Quote: 6. Match Point and The New World are pretty much lost at this point. not too sure these are out of it yet. Mostly because they could open to massive pta's and build steam quickly. I think Match Point has a bigger chance than World now however. If it can walk away with two or even three acting categories, or with Allen in direction, there's no way it won't get a bp nom. When is the last time a movie had two acting and one direction nominations and didn't get a bp? Quote: 10. Geisha did a nose dive into hell so quick that people like the BFCA didn't realize it! Sony is the big loser in the race this year. Biggest loser is Gong Li, who won't get another attempt at a breakthrough, unlike Yeow and Zhang, who are already well known here. Quote: 12. Virgin has a real shot at a Golden Globe.
Mind-boggling

Did NBR list ANY of the Lord of the Rings films in their choices?
And to add to that: Can anyone post the last few years NBR choices, for comparisons sake?
Thanks in advance!
PEACE, Mike.

Hahaha... Finding Neverland is number 1 hahahahahaha
Quote: So, if the pattern holds, at least two of the top 10 films will come from the NBOR list, and there's a 90% chance the Best Picture winner will come from that list.

I was browing last year's Oscar threads.....I actually forgot andaroo's deep hatred for Finding Neverland. I thought Ray and FN should have been replaced with A Very Long Engagement and Eternal Sunshine at last year's noms.

Oh and I more or less agree with andaroo's comments with little to add.
One thing I would like to say, though, is that at this point I consider GNGL to be almost a lock and far ahead of Crash.

Sometimes I'm okay with all five, like 2001 and 2003.
Being that this is an odd year, maybe I'll get lucky!
