I've been waiting for the past 26 minutes, lol. ;)
This is a waste of time... they probably won't have em for another hour!
I'll come on later to see if they reported or not.

Wow, they did nominate Memoirs after all. That'll look really bad on them. But no Gong Li again? I fear she is done.

No Match Point, Pride & Prejudice (had a score of 87), and The New World. Bad news for them.

Ron Howard for director, and Cinderella Man keeps its hope alive. Same for Crash. Getting director nom is huge for both.

Everyone in the supporting actress category gets a huge boost. No Scarlett, Diane Keaton, and Gong Li, three names that people mentioned the most.

I had to go to my class' webpage and accidentally opened up OscarWatch to see the nominees.

Brokeback: 8
Crash: 6
Good Night, and Good Luck: 5
Cinderella Man: 4

Munich only got 2, so did King Kong I believe!

Also little love for A History of Violence, even though it has a really high score with them.

The New World also did not get picture.

I guess their Best Song doesn't necessarily mean original as "seasons of Love" is nominated.

Goooo Jake Gyllenhaal!!!

That's pretty bad for Munich I think?

director and picture but nothing else. Unless of course there were still people who had not seen the film, I don't know if that's the case for the BFCAs

Great showing for Crash though. And maybe someone will start beleiving me now when I say Mountian is the frontrunner :P

Not impressive for Munich. Bana couldn't crack the actor top 5, and looks like that race is down to the 6 BFCA nominees + Bana.

Charlie Theron continues to hang around. Why no Naomi Watts?

Looks like John Williams will be nominated for Memoirs' score.

Boo to the snub of Diane Keaton.

Yay to the inclusion of Amy Adams!

Also, go Crash! I would be psyched if that scored a Picture nomination. Is it possible the "summer slot" could go to that?

I was on board last night, lol.
I'd still have to see it to be sure, but I do think if any film, it's Brokeback that is the front-runner.

If it weren't so controversial, I think alot more people would say it's clerly the front-runner with all its praise and the awards and with Munich not off to a firm start!

I got to hand it to you though, Rod.
You were the only one months back that said this was gonna make a huge splash. And even I didn't believe you!

Great for Amy Adams! Next to Reese Witherspoon, her's was the best performance I've seen by a female this year. Mangold didn't get anything for director? Sin City deserves it's listing! Haggis is going to win his screenplay Oscar this year, I think. Glad to see him listed with the directors. Not much for The Squid and the Whale.

Can't Crash just die?

I mean, I would be fine with everything if Crash WOULD JUST FUCKING DIE.

;)

I'm now starting to think that Brokeback is the frontrunner as well.

Although, that news is going to cause a shit storm soon I think.

Yes, even though KONG got a Best Picture nomination - no Watts.

On Watts, did everyone who voted have to have seen the movie already? Maybe it si just too early for her to be recognized with a nomination.

BEST ACTRESS:
Joan Allen – “The Upside of Anger”
Judi Dench - “Mrs. Henderson Presents”
Felicity Huffman – “Transamerica”
Keira Knightley – “Pride & Prejudice”
Charlize Theron – “North Country”
Reese Witherspoon – “Walk the Line”

and as I have asked in the past, why is everyone excluding Charlize Theron - but everyone says that she is a goner already?

Because North Country fizzled at the box office and the reviews were just alright. I thought Charlize was great in it, though.

No New World?
Also, seems for all the Geisha panning, its surviving the nomination rounds for several of these early awards at least. Pretty strong line-up, and bodes well for Kong which seems to be the only "Blockbuster" up there.

Quote:
BEST ACTOR:
Philip Seymour Hoffman – “Capote”
Heath Ledger – “Brokeback Mountain”
Joaquin Phoenix – “Walk the Line”
David Strathairn – “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

Oh good. Strathairn's back in the mix. Its either him or Hoffman as far as I'm conscenred, though Hoffman is getting much more consistency, and Ledger is coming on strong.

Quote:
BEST ACTRESS:
Joan Allen – “The Upside of Anger”
Judi Dench - “Mrs. Henderson Presents”
Felicity Huffman – “Transamerica”
Keira Knightley – “Pride & Prejudice”
Charlize Theron – “North Country”
Reese Witherspoon – “Walk the Line”

Uh? This category this year is just not speaking to me. Maybe Huffman, i have yet to see her, and I've heard good things about Allen, but in general this is uninspiring, the films they came from didn't grab me. Meh. Supporting and Actor will make up for it though.

Quote:
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
George Clooney – “Syriana”
Kevin Costner – “The Upside of Anger”
Matt Dillon – “Crash”
Paul Giamatti – “Cinderella Man”
Jake Gyllenhaal – “Brokeback Mountain”
Terrence Howard – “Crash”

I lied...maybe supporting actress, heh. Where's Hurt?

Quote:
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Amy Adams – “Junebug”
Maria Bello – “A History of Violence”
Catherine Keener – “Capote”
Frances McDormand – “North Country”
Rachel Weisz – “The Constant Gardener”
Michelle Williams – “Brokeback Mountain”

Wahhhhhhhhhhh. No Gong Li! But good picks on Adams, who looks to be the biggest success story this year, Bello, and Keener. Weisz was alright, but I wasn't that impressed. I haven't seen the other two, but McDormand is gold. I love her.

Quote:
BEST DIRECTOR:
George Clooney – “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
Peter Jackson – “King Kong”
Ang Lee – “Brokeback Mountain”
Steven Spielberg – “Munich”

It'll come down to three of them, with Jackson being a fourth surprise card. Again, good news for Kong, as Blockbusters are rarely put in the same categories as the dramas and other "Oscar bait." I personally think it'll come down to Clooney and Lee.

Quote:
BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE:
Enron – The Smartest Guys in the Room
Grizzly Man
Mad Hot Ballroom
March of the Penguins
Murderball

Except grizzly, which lost out on a technicality (?) I see the other four being the ones that take everything all the way through to the Oscars. Only question is, later in the season, who will replace Grizzly? Maybe Inside Deep Throat, but I doubt it.
