Just thought I would add that... Which most likely means I'll hate it.
It reminded me of Clooney's Fail Safe on CBS.
Ang Lee won't win, or at least I don't think he will.
I need to see BBM immediately. I'm having the gay cowboy itch.
Is BBM a date movie?

Plus the movie is getting better reviews than any of the contenders, except maybe Brokeback and King Kong. They won't give it to Jackson again, so that leads to Clooney vs. Lee and there's where the actor bonus sets in
Yep, but It "Good night" is not nominated for best pic, Lee has the clear edge, IMO.

The New World is quite weak now, and snub from GG could completely knock itself out of the game, so Clooney is emerging as the prime competition.

Actually, I didn't change my mind. I always had Lee at least up for a nom, even when I wasn't a BM-believer and in my very first post in this thread I stated that he is most likely the frontrunner.

I was mostly referring to the fact that you are not a fan, but now seem to be sure he will win.
BYW, I do not think he will win for sure. He is the clear frontrunner, but many things can happen from here till early march - specially george Clooney.

Well, I don't let the bias cloud my thoughts on things. No ther director is even getting close to him as of now. I mean GNGL steals some of BM's praise, but Clooney is actually not getting much. Lee is really praised left and right. I could see Spielberg winning, but Munich is not enough of a masterpiece it seems to give him the 3rd Oscar. Malick is out, Allen won't get Match Point nominated it seems. Clooney directs a movie that is too small and he is not as much overdue (in the eyes of Hollywood, obviously, not in mine). Mangold should be happy about a nom.

Yep, and I don not see that Mangold nomination happening with names like Meirelles, Allen, Cronenberg... out there.
I kind of agree but never forget: Clooney is an actor turned director who has done good and I also think he is well respected in Hollywood. If anybody can upset, I think that´s him.

BD and AMPAS are hard to predict even with precursors. Polanski won while losing CC (Spielberg), GG (Scorsese), DGA (Marshall). Did Mel Gibson even have a DGA nom the year he won for Braveheart? Ang Lee looks like he will win just as he did for CTHD but Clooney is a real theat to win.
