Just checking what people are thinking about these movies.
so it looks like alittle more people have seen Walk the Line - both people and critics
and while the people have rated Walk the Line alittle better
the critics have rated Pride & Prejudice alittle better
who gets more benefits from these #'s??? > Reese or Keira

Also, does Reese W have any kind of advantage as Walk the Line is a bigger Fox film than Keira's Pride & Prejudice Working Title Films from overseas?
or
that Walk the line is a much bigger Box Office, high profile film?

so as North Country's BO and the embarassing AF hurts Charlize Theron's chances.
and
ZZ isn't going to be helped as the early review for Geisha haven't been outstanding as compared to Walk the Line or Pride & Prejudice.

Is there anyone who is going to challange Reese or Keira for the Best Actress win???

Weekend Estimates
3. Walk the Line Fox $10,000,000 -47.9% 3,160 +22 $3,164 $68,766,000 $28 3
6. Pride and Prejudice Focus $4,624,000 -35.4% 1,327 +28 $3,484 $22,633,000 - 4
looks like WtL continues to be 3X P&P in these categories - just smaller with the same average.

Keira and Reese were both very, very, very good. Knightley's performance may have been a little more impressive in that she had to carry the film in a way Witherspoon didn't.

As Keira was in the majority of P&P, it looks like the critics agree with you on Keira. Very impressive RT #'s

I just hope it is a fair race between them and P&P-KK don't get short-changed for being in the smaller movie.
I am so torn on who I want to win.

And I hope Witherspoon doesn't get short changed because she's second lead.
In all honesty, I have not read a single review of P&P so I don't know how Knightley's performance was received, although I'm sure she got her fair share of praise. But I have read the majority of WTL's reviews and Witherspoon has been getting raves with some critics saying they should give her the Oscar now. Even in the negative reviews, Witherspoon is getting praised. That's why I think it's inaccurate to say the critics are favoring Knightley just by using the RT score for each movie. Does anyone have any reviews that say Knightley should be given the Oscar now? I'm a little curious to know. I would look through the reviews myself, but I don't have much interest in P&P, and I'm sure someone out there will know.
Here are some examples for Witherspoon anyway.
Quote: Phoenix will be Oscar nominated, and Witherspoon is the best actress in any film I've seen this year. When she walks the line on Oscar Night, it'll be the press line, and she'll be carrying a statue. - ABC NewsQuote: Reese Witherspoon will take home an Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter Cash. I'm sure of it. And if she doesn't, well then we all win, because there must be one of the greatest female performances ever yet to come in the slate of holiday releases. - IGN Film ForceQuote: However, it's not Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Cash with the single-minded focus of a runaway train, but co-star Reese Witherspoon who steals the show, and if the Academy is listening, they might as well go ahead and give her the award. - IndieWireQuote: We've said it once this year -- about Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote" -- and we'll say it again: They should just give her the Oscar now and get it over with. - Associated PressQuote: Why wait until March? It would save a lot of time to just go ahead and give Reese Witherspoon the Best Actress Oscar now. - Fayetteville Online

On KK, P&P and the RT scores, I was just pointing out the favorable P&P scores for which Keira is a very big part. All I was trying to do was throw some numbers out for discussion.
Also, I don't think that RW will get short-changed for being the second lead - she is in a good majority of the movie and since there are seperate Actor / Actress categories, I don't think that will happen.

I've only seen Knightly in P&P, and she desreves the nomination.
Honestly, I doubt I will se any of the other femlae perfomances being mentioned for nos before the awards if at all.
Also, I belive Ebret came out and said Knightly deservers a nom and I see why he said that. I think Witherspoon will beat her though.

You should try to fit in Walk the Line if possible - even if you don't like the movie, I think you will love Reese's role.

Yes, unfortunately FH was off the radar early on and Charlize Theron was on. I am expected FH to know get one of the 5 slots.
*************************
Also, after seeing Naomi Watts on Jay Leno, ( she looked cute, sexy, hot, etc. ), wondering if she will fit into the race at all.

Naomi Watts has emerged as a big player! Hurrah!
Seriously, this is the coolest actress lineup ever. I mean, 12 months, would anyone have predicted this lineup.
Reese Witherspoon, that cute girl from Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde!
Keira Knightly, that teenager from Bend it like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribeann!
Naomi Watts, the frightened victim from the frightening instant classic The Ring!
Felicity Huffman, from TV's Desperate Housewives!
And oh yeah, Judi Dench.
But 4 out of 5 being previous supposed fun actresses is great.

Or if you really want fun, you can say Naomi Watts was 'Jet Girl' from Tank Girl

Considering Watts' breakthrough was Mullholland Drive I would hardly call her a "supposed fun actress".

Don't forget 21 Grams. Watts is hardly considered a "lightweight" anymore.

I take back what I said earlier about Huffman. I want Knightley up there, too.
I think we're all starting to agree on the nominees, at this point....
