He had some hurtful comments that he made afterwards when Eastwood won, saying something to the effect that he got the message. He's only human, how could he not be a little ticked off by now, 30 years later. All of the other greats have been rewarded, poor Marty is still getting kicked in the gut.

Actually, he's known since Raging Bull. I think the quote you're thinking of goes something along the lines of "After I lost the Oscar for Raging Bull, I knew I'd always be on the outside looking in."

No, seriously, he made that comment after he lost a few years ago.

I know he did, he just didn't say it until recently, probably as a way of saying "Eh, it's always been obvious they don't care."

I agree completely. Dreamgirls seems to be much more "their thing", so a BP Oscar and a "We don´t actually hate you" BD Oscar to Scorsese seems like the logical, completely screwed up thing they would do.

Yeah, the race is unquestionably down to The Departed and Dreamgirls right now, unless something random like Blood Diamond comes out of left field, which is unlikely.

Split, unless this is hyperbole.
The only single threat that Marty has now is pretty small but still threre. If Clint Eastwoods Letters from Iwo Jima is nothing short of amazing, Eastwood could steal one from Marty again.

For someone who truly hated Chicago, Jeffrey Wells' reaction should be considered a triumph for Dreamgirls.

Well, it's hard to say. He seems to be trying to like it a little more then he actually does, probably a safe house incase it gets high praise everywhere.
But if this .... Quote: Poland thinks Dreamgirls is going to win for Best Picture. It might, but I spoke to people last night who were four-square against it and they were saying "no way." One guy even said it may not be nominated, which I strongly doubt.
is true, then i'd say it's still not time to jump the gun.

Well, back in 2002, Wells was also famous for saying that he couldn't find one person he talked to liked Chicago.

Yeah a split seems likely, but I still think it's too early to say for sure.

Ok, I'll have to eat my words...
With these kind of reviews, it seems like Dreamgirls not only will be nominated for BP, but will also win.

Lyao, you have my full and unwavering support.
I am wholly behind this film now, and I think it can win Best Picture.

Couple of positive reviews and people go bananas for nada. Already has a lukewarm review, calling the film " Frustrating "
His last sentence pretty much sums up why I dislike musicals in general and dont think they should ever be rewarded.
"You'll remember the music, the stage lights, the cheering crowds. Not the movie. There is no movie. Just a stage".
